Though it seems that the US seems to step up against more prestigious soccer powers, I certainly dont see any insurmountable teams in the next couple rounds (Ghana - Uruguay/S.Korea)

In a superficial way, seems like a second version of the Algeria game. We're facing an opponent that is solid defensively (only 2 group goals allowed), but poor offensively (only 2 group goals scored, both off PKs).

I believe our midfield matches up well, but exploiting the wings may be a problem if Ghana continues to play a 4-5-1.

I don't think anyone should underestimate the kind of support that Ghana is going to receive from the crowd (and the continent) for this match. It might not be decisive, but it'll make a big difference.

    YES!!!

    We owe Ghana big time!

Let's thrash Ghana. They flubbed around in the Australia game, lost the Germany game and only scored to PK's this World Cup.

This is VERY DOABLE . . . Come on you Yanks!!!!

Bradley - Edu is a must for this game.

Given Ghana's stout 4-5-1 this tournament, I wouldn't mind seeing us play with either Altidore-Buddle or Altidore-Dempsey and an additional midfielder. Chances aren't going to be pretty in this one, and I fear that Gomez or Findley might be out of place for 90 minutes.

Ghana without Essien doesn't worry me too much, plus Muntari sucks right now. Should be an interesting match.

You know, you're right. Very right. I can only hope that FIFA looks at those two legit US goals that were disallowed, and makes amends by assigning a really, very high quality, experienced and unshakable ref for our round of 16 game. I mean, at this point, we're owed the very best ref available.

I'm worried about the referees. We been screwed over already and there will be many who would rather see the last surviving African nation go on than the US.

Please let Buddle start with Altidore. If he's off he won't do any less than Findley and if he's on he can provide scoring early which the US hasn't done without him. Seriously odds are the US will be shut out in the first half with Findley or Gomez so might as well start him and take a relatively safe chance.

Could we be the first ever team to be jobbed in three consecutive World Cup matches?

Unfortunately the whole of Africa, AND THEIR ********ING VUVUZELAS, are going to be rooting for Ghana.

I CAN ALREADY SENSE ANOTHER REF "SCREWUP" IN THIS GAME THAT WILL TAKE US OUT! FIFA will want an African team doing well and since Ghana will be the sole survivor of the world cup....

    We're in deep shit.

If I was a fan of any other team I'd agree with this. But the refs are gonna screw us over either way, so why worry about it??

It's clear Gomez is more effective off the bench. I'd like to see Buddle get the start, although my bet is that Bob goes back to Findley. I also think we need to have Gooch back out there, he needed a rest but he's too good not to play in a game of this magnitude. I'd keep the midfield the same--Edu is clearly the best partner for Bradley we've seen so far.

Fifa should give an award each WC to the team most screwed by the refs - The Golden Screw. We would be front-runners this year.

Revenge! (I expect the vuvuzela blowers to be in favor of Ghana. It will be glorious when we score and shut them up, just like when Uruguay quieted the vuvuzelas against South Africa.)

Anything at this point is gravy - but this game is very winnable.
