People who are surfing the WC forum may be planning to watch the final matches from groups A and B on delay. If the R16 thread titles had the names of who's playing it'd give away the results of those matches.

PS - stop misspelling Uruguay, gaysmack will get you infracted.

Final 16s are always exciting! I'm Brasilian, the team I really want to do well is Uruguay. I think all the butterfiles are gone and they'll be playing at their best against Korea.

They can however choke... It's a shame, I see both these teams as the most humble and work oriented of the possible final 16. Mexico and Argentina on the other hand, well I won't go there. The best match if possible would be Argentina - Uruguay. Man, that to me would be better then Argentina - Brasil.

Good luck Korea, the better team will win.

P.S: Korea's speed will be useless, Uruguay plays like 7-2-1 lol. If Korea plays back defense like Uruguay, i can see the game going to Penalties.

Uruguay is the one team I really did not want Korea to meet. Sigh.

Give me Italy, give me France, no, give me England.

They would have been better matchups for Korea, in all honesty. I am not saying that Korea would win against the mighty teams such as Italy, France, and England, but at least, I would be assured that Korea could penetrate the deep back... at least once in a while.

But against physical, tough, annoying, tireless, and perseverance Uruguayan players, Korea will have a long field day.

I watched the friendly match Korea vs Uruguay two years back in Seoul. Uruguay controlled the tempo and easily won by the score of 2-0.

Oh, boy. The stadium was so quiet. It was so quiet that I thought Kim Yuna was showcasing her figure skating skill on the soccer field.

Sorry to our South Korean friends, who play great Football too, but Uruguay has this match wrapped, cause they are one level above. After seeing how Uruguay has evolved since the qualies in Conmebol, they seem to be a tough rival not only for South Korea, but for anyone. I`m glad that during the qualies, they didn`t play as they are playing now, since if they did, Uruguay would have ended first or second and we third behind them and Brazil and most likely we would have had to suffer what Uruguay suffered to get here, including the possibility to have had ourselves the tough decissive game against Costa Rica.

In the final rounds, I don`t know which will be a better game to see, but the common factor is that Uruguay, is going to be in it.

Uruguay - Brazil or Uruguay - Argentina
Out of these three, imho, this Worldcup will have its new Champion.

¡¡¡¡ Adelante esa Garra, URUGUAY !!!!.

Since 1950, matches where Uruguay lost to Argentina where Argentina scores 4 or more:

    2004.10.09 - 4:2 (3:0)
    2004.07.13 - 4:2 (2:2)
    1976.04.08 - 4:1 (1:0)
    1960.08.17 - 4:0 (0:0)
    1959.03.30 - 4:1 (1:0)
    1957.03.20 - 4:0 (1:0)
    1955.03.27 - 6:1 (2:1)

There are even more before 1950, but these are old enough. That said, Uruguay is probably playing better right now.

    6-0, 6-1 losses against Argentina, 1902, 1955.

Having said that, I think Uruguay will come away with a win, 2-1.

Outside of Suarez and Forlan, Diego Perez has impressed me, in particular, because he seems like a completely changed player from when I watched him these past two seasons with Monaco.

Like I said before no match is won before a ball is even kicked. If a team comes into the game with the right plan and preparation any result can be achieved, especially in a knockout game. dont need to look any further than swiss 1 spain 0. I have faith in my team, you have faith in your team . We'll see what happens.
Diego Perez has always been good for Uruguay even if he isnt having a good season at Monaco he ahs always stepped up for national team. It speaks a lot when him and Arevalo Rios are keeping a player like Gargano out of the starting 11.

I feel like Uruguay has the edge here, their defense has been pretty fantastic during the tournament and I don't know if Korea have the weapons to really test them.

I think 1-0 to Uruguay in the end.

This is a great quarter of the draw. Uruguay, South Korea, USA, Ghana - before the tournament I'd have predicted all those teams to make the R16 at best. Now one of them will be in the Semi Finals, and all of them have a great chance of being that team.

I think Korea showed that they were an elite team when they played Greece, and played Argentina great until the end. Missed most of the Nigeria game, but they got a tie, which is what they needed. They are a very technical, European style team, so it will be a tough challenge for us Uruguayans. We have a very tough minded team, and we haven't let any goals go through. This will be a fun back and forth game. And the winner has a good chance of going to the semis.

Thanks for the compliments. I think if Korea can put 2 past, they'll win. If they put 1 past, it'll be a draw. If they put 0 past, it'll be a loss. They've scored in every game so far =)

Im hoping for the absolute best. Our main goal from the very get go as it was written about constantly was Huh's desire to get into the Final 16. There was a lot of stress and tension on the team to accomplish this and they played scared in some instances (Argentina) to not concede. It obviously didnt work out well for us to employ these bunkering tactics.

Anyway my main point is that we played tense, and Im really hoping that because we reached our goal, we can finally play relaxed and really let loose here. I think we still have a lot to show.

Its going to be a banger of a match, fellas.

gee, thanks for the compliment, but I think you overestimate us with the word 'elite'. We are a 'good' 'solid' team that is very well organized and have high levels of fitness. I think Uruguay has the slight edge going into this match but Korea has the ability to overachieve on the world stage. Talent-wise, I think this is the best Korean side we ever put out at the world cup, so...i will hope for the best for my team, and may the best team win.

I read that somebody said we play 7-2-1. We are a team with 2 Defensive Midfielders, 2 central backs, 1 side back and 2 wings that are better defending than in offense.
But we are not a defensive team, we have the same amount of shots that Germany has. We have a vertical style. And it is a very inteligent thing, cause with 3 players in attack we can damage a lot.
Anyway all the team has been great caring the ball, with good precision for our historic style. We are not the tipical Uruguayan team neither, slow and making stupids fouls. We are a athletic team and we did less fouls than a lot of teams only having 3 yellows now.

Somebody said too that our group was not difficult. I really thinked the same and really believed we will clearing the group, but nobody give us like favorites previous to WC.

I'm expecting a good game. Don't under estimate Uruguay's Offense, they will score more than one goal. Everyone is focusing on their shutdown defense, but becareful they have world class forwards and a crack, "Diego the great." These knockout games can go either way, they are not won on paper. Final score 3-1 La Celeste.

i think uruguay will be in the final four

they got a good draw and are looking solid. plus they have at least have history on their side which for some intangible reason does seem to count in many crunch WC matches.
