Findley received his 2nd yellow of the tournament for that ridiculous handball call so he's out for the next game at least.

in our alignment we typically have our CM's playing a bit wide and high, which means there is virtually always a soft spot 5 yards in front of our CBs. Teams will generally plant someone here to either take shots, as we saw or distribute diagonal through balls as we saw Csec do against us in Confed Cup.

The other stuff is really just talent vs. talent.

I'm with you. The central defense was embarrassing for the entire first half. I don't even think BB's lineup had anything to do with the meltdown, as the backline was the same. Yes, both central MF were bad the first half, but those two goals were soft as can be.

I don't know about the 2nd goal, but he was COMPLETELY at fault for the first. Did you see how far off his line he was???

The reffing was a disgrace, and that was even before this call, but let's stop with this "no explanation" whining. He called a foul. Refs don't stop the match to hold press conferences in that circumstance.

I knew the US had tow goals in them after Slovenia went up 1 and I thought the US would win 1-0. However Slovenia surprised me with the second goal. It was good comeback by the US mostly due to their fitness but a poor result overall. Like Donovan said "If we cannot beat Slovenia we have not business advancing to the second round". The US will probably beat Algeria and advance maybe even in first place but I see them being stopped by either Serbia or Germany there.

Well that makes two idiots then.

Take off your red, white and blue goggles and you'll see there was a Solvenian player being held up in the box. It was a foul. Bradley was being fouled too so if I'm the ref I'd call it a wash and let the goal stand. But he's human and made a call. Your racist nonsense notwithstanding,

    Donovan....

He simply bailed out those two other players making the run with him (I can't see who they are on the replays, I know one of them looked like Dempsey) once he was clear they made awful runs and got into awful positions which forced Donovan to take matters into his own hand. Nice goal, but totally bailed those guys out.

Fact is the USA Should never have put themselves in that position. This miracle comeback stuff isn't going to last. Onyewu was horrible. The guy just isn't ready to play. England will pound Algeria today. And pound Slovenia in due time. Slovenia racked up the yellows today. I predict Slovenia will be playing with 10 or 9 men towards the end of the match against England. I think if the USA wins against Algeria we're through to the next round.

The first half was a sad display on our part. We were booting it up field, we often didnt have no midfield, torres and bradley were lost, passing the balls out wide, or long passes which didht work, often torres to findley who'd get pushed off, or Bradley to Altidore, and similar things would happen.

Donovan and Dempsey were having problems clicking and doing the right things. We got caught on a counter attack which led to two goals.

The first, I'll admit although I love torres, he was off his mark straying to the left (its his natural instinct he plays where donovan plays for pachuca), and that left that guy wide open for a placement shot past a off his line howard, and gooch not trying to block it with his big ass body.

Second goal: Torres gets easily passed by with the ball, from his charge at the guy who starts the counter, the ball goes to the guy in the middle, he sees a hole where gooch had t oclose it up, gooch's fault, Bradley somewhat cause where was he?

Second half we came out with the right mentality we should have the whole game! Feilhaber didnt do crap, and instead was allowed to run around with no defensive responsibility. For once i'd like to see Bradley try that out with Torres, he might find moderate success, more so then feilhaber today who was shut down with his through balls. Didnt try a air through ball which torres loves, and would have worked better then him.

Edu, had some issues, but came out stronger, and harder with his jumps for headers, and toughness. It would have helped Torres a TON to have that with him, because he failed underpressure of such a fast european counter attack which is slovenia.

The sub for Findley was good.

Bob has some balls, with the gomez sub it changed the game. Gooch out, we played tighter, although risky'er.

For once I applaud bob, although the torres start sort of bit him in the butt, I am proud that he stepped up for once with a not so conservative approach in both the torres start, and the gooch out, gomez in sub.

    Great coaching.

Had Gomez not been in, it wouldnt open up altidore for that header, as it looked like donovan was going to give the lob pass to gomez which the defense expected, it left jozy a split second to jump higher for it then the defender marking him, he heads it down, bradley finishes... the coaches son scores our most important goal of this tournament right now becaues it iskeeping us in!! How about that bradley haters? He has issues, but is still a force to reckon with when we need a goal!

incidentally, do people now see why Edu should always be on the pitch for us.

I dont think enough people realize he is a top 5 CM in a pretty brutal league and happens to play for the champions two years running.

He lead them on a 10 game streak a year ago, and had some very good matches late this year.

Torres is a player you bring in after the half to calm things down, he is not the guy yet to put his mark on a team like Slovenia.

Bob did it AGAIN. He has all the tools and all the great coaching and picks an idiotic starting line-up. Can someone else please do this for you Bob. PLEASE?

The ref's call was marginal, but I wouldn't say it was completely crazy, either. Watch the replay. The call must be on Boca, who is clearly blocking the defender, which allowed Edu to score.

I'm not gonna bitch about that call because a) The US did not deserve to win that game given the disastrous first half, and b) The US got the gift of the century with Green's mishap.

    Things are now karmically even.

What I'm pissed about is the sketchy defense in the first half. Dear Jay and Gooch: Stop getting caught so far out!!!

There's a silver lining here, though: Findley must miss the next game, which gives the US a better chance of actually scoring some first-half goals.

My big fear: Slovenia ties England and it's those two who advance.
