Wow, it's so nice of Univisión to let ESPN use shots from the helicóptero Univisión during the game. ;)

I guess it is just me but I'm just loving this World cup. The talent is unprecedented. The games are being played in wonderful spirit -- hard intense play but generally great sportsmanship. The soccer is at times breath taking marred for me, only by a stupidly messed up game ball that flies unpredictably and is making all players, goal keepers and field players alike look foolish.

The TV production is nothing short of spectacular. ESPN's commentary is so much better than anything done for any previous american broadcast that it cannot even be described.

I am just having a complete 100% blast.

Are you sure you're watching this tournament and not a DVR from past editions?

I do agree with you that the sportsmanship and the production is pretty good, but the goings on on the field leave a lot to be desired for the most part. Sure there have been a few exceptions and you can certainly have exciting Draws but most of the 1st Group games have been a plodding tactical mess including a Dynamoesque lack of shots on goal (and that with such a supposedly unpredictable ball) and those that make it through leave Tony Caig smiling at the fundamental errors by the men between the pipes.

It's not terrible but I certainly hope it picks up a bit, the guys picking nothing but Draws are running away with all the pools....;)

Whow Argentina just dismantled S. Korea....can't blame red cards on this match, it's the first blow out where the game ended 11 vs 11.

Is it wrong that I'm actually liking Alexi Lalas? He doesn't seem like the blowhard I thought he was.

I don't know, he started off as a blow hard again in the early games, the Mexico and US games especially, but I think he's calmed a little since the. I hated him in those first games.

Froggies laid down like they always do... Mexico wins. Thought the first was offsides, until I saw the last replay near the end of 2nd half.

I never would have thought that it would make me happy (after listening to those f-ing horns all week) to hear thousands (maybe tens of thousands?) of Mexican fans singing Cielito Lindo and chanting "********." When their team gets eliminated next week hopefully the South Africans will stop showing up to the games.

The "Francia va a probar el chile nacional" (France will taste the national pepper) chant was in poor taste, but boy was it true.

The "Bafana, Bafana, préstame a tu hermana"chant was hilarious.

France and Spain losing in consecutive days is priceless.

I like the way they seem to be holding off on the offsides calls. That play wasn't even offsides, but in some tournaments it would have been called I think. And there have been some that were probably really offsides that they haven't called... I think its good for the game. If they have to replay it a dozen times to find the offsides, it's not worth calling.

ESPN has done an excellent job IMO, even if some of the analysts are still tools. ESPN Radio coverage is very good as well (usually catch part of the early game in the car on the way in). ESPN has dumped a ton of resources and money into this and it shows.

World Cup Primetime is a great show for those of us who work and can't really stream at the office (ESPN Mobile TV is adequate for following action but not really for 90 minutes of staring at a cell phone screen).

As far as the games themselves, it really picked up in the last 36 hours, prior to that it was kind of a defensive snoozer with a few good games mixed in.

That ball seems to knuckle and sail all over the place.
