if the galaxy do have ronaldinho for the next 4 years, where does that leave becks?? that's a lot of $$$$$$$$$ (up to $$ 12 mill!!!) for the 2 players and how much would be added to the galaxy's bottom line of increased revenue in order to justify these 2 BIG $$$$$$$$$$ players

is it possible for the galaxy to trade becks to another team and market him there?? how about NY-- first with the Red bulls and then with the new NYC team in 2012-2013, as a player/part-owner?

just fantasizing-- its a crazy world in soccer, especially in the MLS, where some markets need pumping up-- bringing in ronaldinho will give the galaxy another marketing splash-- do they really need becks there? and becks has an option to buy into an mls franchise by 2012

the mls brass would be wise to try and market becks in another city and no place better than NY along with henry; and then onto a new mls franchise in the BIG APPLE starting in 2012-2013

and NO-- i do not have any insider info on this, but just a hunch that the mls will want to market becks during his last few years of playing and his NAME-- having becks and ronaldinho on the same team seems to waste the overall impact on 'getting the biggest bang for your buck!'

and the MLS still needs the BIG BANGS-- major names that can sell the game to the american people

Easy. You figure Ronaldinho, Becks, and Donovan should assure most games are sellouts. So you are looking at roughly 5500 extra a game at, lets say, 45 bucks a pop. Over the course of the year that is around 3.75 million dollars in just extra ticket sales. You figure another 1.25 million or so in concessions. Another couple million in merchandise. So right there you are at 6 to 8 million in additional revenue. Oh, and FSC's TV contract is up this year. AEG, being part of MLS, would sure like to keep making money on the national TV contracts. I think adding Henry and Ronaldinho (and maybe someone else) is nice leverage in contract negotiations with potential suiters. And of course, Ronaldinho would help other teams bottom lines, which would make their bottom lines stronger, which makes MLS' bottom line stronger, which is good for AEG as well.

That being said: I believe this when I see him actually line up in a Galaxy jersey. This sounds too much like information from a bartender.

Galaxy should cut Beck loose and sign Ronaldinho. They have ridden that Beckham train til the death. It would be great to see Ronaldinho and Donovan playing together.

I agree. The Beckham experiment has long been over.

I see Donovan leaving before Beckham, leaving his spot wide open for Dinho to slot in.

Agreed, and with a stellar World Cup, that'll book Donovan's ticket back to Everton (where he rightfully belongs, to be honest, as he's accomplished every honor in MLS that he can). Ronaldinho is actually a cover for him, as opposed to Beckham.

I'm convinced that Landon Donovan will not finish the 2010 calendar year, or even the 2010 MLS season, in a L.A. Galaxy uniform.

    This I want to see!

He has been making sounds about coming to MLS for a long time. The timing is perfect...he would make a monkey out of the MLS defenses and once again become a cult hero.

The only problem I see is the LA night life and women...

I wonder much his World Cup snub plays into this? Having a good season with a preeminent European club and still not being selected? Perhaps Ronny figures there's nothing left to accomplish/prove, and now it's time to simply go out and enjoy playing the game?

MLS is only an option to soccer superstars who no longer have a chance to play for top international teams. At his age, Ronaldinho's time with Brazil is likely over, so the timing makes perfect sense.

Everton won't be able to afford him.

P.S Would love it if this story is true.

Move Becks out wide again? But than what do you do with 2 attacking midfielders? Can only see this happen if Donovan is planning on leaving after the World Cup, with Ronaldinho being brought in as a new draw for the ghetto los galaticos.

And those would be the attackers on a team that is threatening to set defensive records for MLS.

Signing Ronaldinho they have a pretty decent chance to eliminate the PR Islanders and advance to the Concacaf champions league

PR Islanders are nothing. The Crew advanced over them last year.

This is based on zero evidence.... in the video he never says anything even close to making a move like that.... just says the league is growing, but anyone would say that anyway....

This is nothing but a BS pipe dream rumor.

I'm getting so sick of players that acheive great fame in Europe coming to the US to finish their careers on top and be a big fish in the pond again. Why can't we get any of them when they're just regular good players?
