It's obviously common and easy to buy team shirts etc in the world cup countries but will there be stores selling official shirts for the teams etc? flags etc in johannesburg.

I imagine there'll be lots of unofficial shirts quite cheap on sale around the stadiums and in the town centres

In Germany in 2006 they were selling commemorative T-shirts and scarves for every game, with the team names and colurs. Made quite cool (and cheap) souvenirs. Will that happen this time round?

yeah for sure. I imagine there'll be all the official stuff inside the stadium, but masses of unofficial stuff outside, in the car parks, street markets etc. I like all that stuff it adds to the atmosphere of the game.

Like walking down Warwick Road to Old Trafford.....all the colour and stuff .....ace :D

you can buy official shirts in tons of places (unofficial ones too).

i was at sandton city mall yesterday and they had official jerseys in probably 5 stores (they had world other cup shirts of various types in probably 20 stores).

flags are for sale everywhere -- kiosks in malls, at roadside stands, from guys at stoplights. believe me, if you want to buy anything world cup related, you can find it without too much difficulty.

(if you are looking for certified slovenia marek hamsik jersey, that might be difficult, but i did even see slovenia jerseys).

how much are official/unofficial jersey and other stuff running for.

I am thinking I'd much rather support the locals and buy the unofficial stuff :p

Can you get them to print on flags (i.e. your club)?

How much are the official jerseys there? They're a fortune here!

official jerseys were priced the same as they are in the states (i.e. ridiculously expensive).

they just announced a huge bust of counterfeit stuff in the joburg paper yesterday -- a semi-tractor trailer full of stuff from china. this is just a drop in the ocean, though.

i talked to one street vendor, he was complaining that the police were cracking down on the 'unofficial stuff' and he expects to move regularly as a result. he said that he was not sure where he would be selling on game days, but he said he would be selling. he thought that, at least during the first few days, the police would crack down hard on vendors trying to set up anywhere near the stadiums. the guy did say his stuff came from china, like most other people's. i didn't price the counterfeit stuff, as i was short on time.

If i wanted them to print a name on the back of a plain shirt, with the official lettering and number, would they do it? e.g a Messi 10 on an adidas argentina shirt. how much would they charge for it?

    What about the second one?

That little fat cheatin bastard slalomed more than half the English team from 40 yards out to find the back of the net.

You boys will be lucky to get past Uruguay in the quarters.
