Mate I got told the other day that if declare it for charity(unicef) you can carry up to 40kg free. Can someone confirm
even if i am not parking my car because I am not renting one, can i still use the park&ride service ?
This may be true, not sure tho if u need official charity status or something. Interestingly tho, I checked with Kenya Airways and they allow 2 (yes two!!) 23kg bags for each person and I am travelling on Economy fare. Between me and my mate that should cover it I think, 2 extra bags at 23kgs each. I don't think Mango Airlines do the same tho, I am emailing them to see if they will waive the excess baggage charge
Swiss is allowing 20 kg per person so we're going All In with stuff for kids/locals. I'll be handing it all over to an agency/organisation in Johannesburg/Pretoria before I go on any domestic flights. Will check with Swiss if they'll allow me to bring more stuff if declared charity. Good idea!
I salute your generosity *standing ovation * (there isn't a hug/handshake/kiss smiley else I would have used that one!)
Pretoria meet 16th june - Youth day. 12h00 - Meet at Gronum's house in Irene. "Humanitarian" might be the correct term now that I think of it Be great if we could get more info on this
Anyone interested in a Soweto walking tour before the meet on June 20 at Wits University please get in touch. We have an absolute expert local in our ranks
I'm available morning of the 20th and ofcourse later in the afternoon we are doing the meet at Wits How long does it take to do the soweto walking tour and how much ?
Well this tour is a custom tour for us as I approached Pule, who has been invaluable to us all along with the other SA locals on here. Many would know has his own Joburg blog http://johannesburgdailyphoto.blogspot.com/ Congrats Pule on you're 500 followers. Essentially we are chasing a ticket for him for the Brazil v Ivory Coast match so all contributions will fund the match ticket
I'm going to be in Jo'berg from June 11-24 and traveling solo, so it will be great to meet and make many new friends. I'm going to be at the meetup on June 20, but let me know if there are others in JNB.
From RidgeB our local host who has put together some outstanding options. Here is the latest Capetown Meet Up / Match - Camps Bay FC 18 June. http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/campsb...ndary=location There are hot showers. Big Screens at the club house for those wishing to watch WC matches. Beer at reasonable prices Basic food Provisional Programme - Match K.O. 1500 ends 1630 ( say 40 min each way ) Fantastic Xhosa choir from township High School will sing from say 1700 - 1720 If the weather is anything like decent the sunset from the club house verandah, overlooking the field and ocean is magnificent at about 1730. We can put on a typical SA dish - bobotie or similar for a set price if we get enough takers. Can arrange collection from your hotel to Camps Bay and later Camps Bay to stadium if required, at a reasonable cost. Cost of field is Rand 200 for groundsman etc./cleanup. And would like to donate a small amount to the choir. Will have about 10 kids from the township to" receive" the secondhand boots which are being donated. Now main question is: a. how many will attend b. how many want to play - if yes please give us your best and second best position c. how many would go for a typical SA meal after the game ( I am guessing at cost of about Rand 60 ) Depending on numbers wishing to play we can either arrange one team against the club Under 15s and coaches , or if we have large numbers wishing to play could arrange two teams to play each other - say Europe against the rest or similar. I can certainly arrange one set of shirts Please come back to me with numbers to help with the arrangements. If anyone has further ideas let me know. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=121807364524449 6.30pm Camps Bay to Green Point and Capetown Town Hall 8.30pm England v Algeria And for anyone that wants to join DrPepper later 12 midnight Fatboy Slim-Capetown Convention Centre http://www.coolbritanniasa.com/line-up.html
Both my friend (Robin) and I (Vikram) will be attending and playing and for the meal too. I would play anywhere or the left wing or left back. And Robin would play as a full back.
Great...sounds like fun day for all of us travelling fans!! DJGrizzlyPaws normally plays fullback, but as SoccerWhos seems to have claimed the full back spots, I would like to take the opportunity to play as striker (well I will have a Rooney shirt ). My 3 scouse friends play as follows-: Sean (born in Port Elizabeth!) = sweeper Andy Ace High = Goalkeeper (has gloves) Joe = His best position is anywhere he can do least damage to his own team ....maybe centre back
Pule - the Cape Town game sounds sorted - what are the arrangements re Wits? Can we park there and walk to the park & ride (it will not be open when we arrive) Braai facilities, charcoal, food, plates, snacks, glasses etc etc? Let me know.
