All my best, and appreciation to Burpo. The way he came in here and did what he did (at least keeping us in games) is more than most could ask for. I hope him all the best in his life and in his recovery to full strength. Your above post really doean't mean much, no offense, but I doubt he will return to where he was.
Best Wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery. Been down that road with my then 9 year old son. He's 12 now and unlike Preston , he had a splintered/spiral compound break, broken knee and an acl tear. Infection took part of his tibia and for him there was muscle and nerve damage. If Preston's break is clean, he'll heal up fine. My son just had a run of horrible luck in that everything that could go wrong did. Seeing Preston's injury made my stomach hurt. I flashed back to seeing my son in near the safe position except thankfully he had passed out and does not remember much accept that he'd just scored and then suddenly he was at the hospital. He's sending Preston a get well letter with a few words of support from a fellow player who's been down that injury road.
Thanks for the compliment. I'm not saying I hate Burpo and he should die in a fire, just that realistically the thought of retiring could pop into his head. I know if I'm at his age and likely not going to see time until next season, the thought of retirement has to be considered.
Sorry, for real. I did worse than what I was accusing you of. As they say timing is everything. And of course we all would want Preston to have a go at it again. It's not that unrealistic.
Burpo is a class act it's most unfortunate that this happened. Here's hoping he has a full recovery and hopefully we'll get to see him back on the pitch sooner than later.
Did you say the same thing in the CD9 thread after his injury? It's the type of nasty Theismann-esque injury he's sustained combined with the fact he's been a stalwart in goal during an otherwise frustrating season as well as a leader in the locker room. That's earned him A LOT of respect from Revs fans and others wishing him well and hoping for a full recovery.
Get well soon Preston. What does the GK depth look like now? I know Reis was out who is the new #1? Any chance they trade for someone or maybe go after a Ray Burse jr (if he is still playing).
You're forgetting who he used to play for.... Depth is Shuttleworth then Murray for now with Reis returning imminently (probably the Chicago game after the WC break).
Yep. I see us going with Shuttleworth and Murray through Seattle, maybe giving Reis some time against Cruzeiro. Regardless, I think they'll keep him out of strenuous action until after the WC break.
Good luck to Preston for a speedy recovery. He's always seemed like a class act and top pro, so it's impossible not to feel very badly for him.
Yeah, I saw the same thing in my college team's practice scrimmage - big, strong defender making a forward run. Reis was already planning to play a half vs. Cruzeiro and they were supposedly working on getting him loaned out to play a few games. If he's physically cleared to play, there's no reason he can't be the backup in Seattle. Hopefully Burpo won't have complications. It's be great if he can make it out to the bench for Cruzeiro so we can give him a big show of support. You have to say, he gave us everything we hoped for when we traded for him.
From the Revs site, you can email Preston at prestonburpo24@gmail.com to send him your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery
I can't find the article online, but according to the Sunday Globe, the plan to loan Reis has been shelved.
I found it online. There's no mention of any loan plans whatsoever. http://www.boston.com/sports/soccer/articles/2010/05/30/reiss_return_may_be_pushed_forward/
