When I mean the best supporters: I mean highest attendance, loyal even during bad times, largest fan base in Mexico and outside of Mexico, and finally who are the most rabid/passionate about their club??? Just curious. And it doesn't have to be only Chivas or America. BTW, I saw a Chivas jersey on a student at the school I'm student teaching at, in near Western Suburbs of Chicago. The student was a Mexican, if you were curious.
Tigres, Pumas, and Monterrey........by far. then probably America and Chivas. all in no particular order.
I would also say Tigres, Monterrey, or Pumas, though I am leaning more towards Tigres. No, here the qualifier in your question is "loyal even during bad times" and Tigres have gone through some BAD or MEDIOCRE times and still they pack the stadium. El Chapulin Colorado
Tigres, Pumas and Monterrey are exactly the teams I was thinking of. I'd consider adding Toluca to that second group, they've always seemed to be solidly supported, but then they've not suffered a lack of quality in a while. ricv56
Atlas must have the most faithfull supporters. This club hasnt won anything in over fifty years and they still get good crowds.. I would say Tigres has the best supporters. They allways show up to the stadium no matter what. Even after losing two staright Championships at home the fans still cheer the team along. Their club was losing last seasons Championship game with three players less and two goals against and their fans began singing their devotion to the club.. UNAM also has a great following which some of the best vocal supporters. However they havent really been put to the test like Tigres or Atlas.. I know their attendace wasnt doing too good just a few years back. Now that Hugo Sanchez (The clubs most famous player) took over as Coach, UNAM has regained some of its popularity. Monterrey's following is pretty much like Tigres. To answer the question if their rivalry has a better atmosphere than Chivas-America, well it's hard for me to judge without being biased. In Chivas/America match ups the stadium is usually divided 50/50 while Tigres/Mont is diffrent because they sell a lot of season tickets so the Rivalry match ups will favor the supporters group of the stadium they play in..
I think they mean that both Tigres and Monterrey have better home match atmosphere than even the 2 most popular teams in Mexico (America and Chivas) Tigres has by far the best atmosphere it is a joy to watch their home games.

Maybe, but, either it's my eyesight or the stadium, sometimes their stadium looks cavernous w/ the small crowds. I tell ya how hardcore their Tigres fans are. In the last season Luis "El Guero Oxigenado" Hernandez played for Tigres (I think in 2000), Tigres was minutes away from going to the finals. They fugged it up in the worst way with stupid mistakes. When the final whistle blew, Tigres fans start burning their flags and jerseys, starting bonfires with them, throwing the give-a-way *#*#*#*#*# to the players, etc. Sooooooocer riot! Next season. It's all love and packed stadiums. Maybe it's those Men In Black Neuralyzer that get flashed after e/a game. El Chapulin Colorado Tigres Fan: Did you ever flashy-thing me? Kay: No. Tigres Fan: I ain't playing, K. Did you ever flashy-thing me? Kay: No.
ric Yeah......Toluca should be in that second group, as well as Morelia, Pachuca, Cruz Azul, Santos. Really, most clubs get really good attendance, but Tigres, Pumas, and Monterrey are the top teams in attendance for Home games. Their fans are always there.
Yeah most definately tigres. Their fans come out in full colors for the games and their celebrations for when the team comes out is amazing. When the match starts you can still see how much confetti was thrown. They also have some of the most vocal fans that sing chants until the game is over. Big reason why tigres is so strong at home. Monterrey has really good fans as well, they always fill the stands. Both teams from Monterrey have pretty nice stadiums. Pumas also have some of the most die hard fans in Mexico. They know how to live it up in the stands. Especially their Ultra support group. if you ever get lucky enough to watch a game on TV and the show the very beggining and they do their university song you will get to hear the entire stadium do their famous Goya chant. It is really something. other Honorable mentions are the Santos fans which allways fill up the stands because their stadium is pretty small. Not that that is a bad thing. Toluca except for that Empty side because the admission is so high. They sould change the camera so it is facing the other way. Cruz Azul, Atlas, San Luis, Necaxa.
Monterry at home America and Rabano Sagrado on the road Its interesting- Tigres and Rayados appear to be the best supported home teams. But Chivas and America draw the crowds on the road. Why don't these teams draw better at home for games other than the super classico, classico tapitia and el classico joven?
if you want to see a few pictures of mexican crowds go to www.univision.com and click on the deportes tab and then on the Futbol Mexicano section go to the Atlante vs. Necaxa article by the right side you will see little photos click on the one with a devil's head. Some times they move it around so if you can't find it on that article try some others
Interesting... That Chivas and America...2 of THE most popular Mexican clubs DO NOT have some have some of the best supporters! I'm just going by the few matches that I have seen and also what people have written on here. America did have a nice visitors crowd yesterday against Vera Cruz...i hope that they the road team.
I believe the attendance for Americas game was 20k and it was a double header as the match was followed by Atlante vs Necaxa !!! I guess we can discard AmeriCrap fans from the list of best supporters..
Don't count out the Americanistas quite yet... when America played in San Jose during Interliga, The whole Stadium was wearing yellow and blue- and not for tigres. And I see CA supporters everywhere I go. CA and Chivas have the best supporters I think... then comes Cruz Azul.
Re: Re: Re: Interesting... the coach before Beenhakker had America playing the most boring futbol known to man. They lost a lot of fans. We can only hope the fans will come back to the stadiums now that America is playing good futbol. Copa Libertadores always gets big crowds in Azteca so they can use those games to show the fans that they are different now (so they come back to league games).
