I've always kinda liked Gerrard, not sure I think it's a good idea to sign him now, but in my book he's a pretty damn good player. Don't know who he would replace in the starting XI though.

How about "Gerrard will solve our problems". No, too repetitive.;)

If Gerrard does come, I predict he will be successful here.
    There, I said it.

And just to add to my earlier post, the NOTW is also saying Jose will come calling for him.

If we're buying anyone from Liverpool I hope its Mascherano.

Maicon for 20-25ME I wouldnt mind, I was expecting a larger fee if he did come over. Kolarov on the left, sure why not.

No thanks to Gerrard, Milito, Tevez, Lampard, Drogba.

De Rossi would be massive but I doubt Roma would sell for anything less than 40-45ME, so my choice is Mascherano.

The Silva rumours seem to have died down a bit, I read on defensacentral yesterday that if the Cules dont manage to get Fabregas then they will look to Silva as alternative. Let's just say i'd go nuts if that happened, and not the good "nuts" ..

I think he's a good player and i agree with the idea that he'd succeed in Madrid.

When Carlos Alberto arrived at Porto, Mourinho played him at DM for several games.
The player asked him the reason and he responded "when you learn how to defend, I will move you to your correct position".

I don't see Benz or C. Ronaldo doing that kind of defensive work. Look at how Etoo played yesterday, I think he didn't even step on Bayern's box.

With the players Real Madrid have, I think a more traditional 442 is the way to go.

My problem with Gerrard isn't his adaptation to La Liga or RM, it's his age. He will be 30 in a few days and i doubt that Livershit will let him go for cheap.

I'd rather we don't sign him.

I honestly don't think any purchases are required. I know there definitely will be purchases, but assuming we did in fact buy Canales (I think I heard that?? months ago) then him + Arbeloa I think is suitable for LB.

I think Lass is a brilliant DM, and Jose seems intent on getting the best out of Mahamadou, so we currently have 2 destroyers, 2 deep playmakers in Xabi and Gago, so the centre of the pitch is fine, and that's not even counting Granero (who granted, didn't have the best season).

I guess I'll get excited for any new purchases all the same.

^ Canales is not a LB.

We should just play him there anyway, he can't be worse than Marcelo.

Maicon says he will follow Jose if Moratti agrees.

    Canales can't do LB?

    Darn.

Get an LB then. Whatever happened to that Miguel Torres fellow, he was...um

I want to compliment him without saying slow, but slow is all I can think of.

    Help me out here guys.

    Maybe he meant Canella.

Miguel suck8d donkey balls after Capello left. & he's naturally right footed. So limited crosses there. Not to mention is too slow. Arbeloa is much better for that utility role.

I agree that Gerrard is already "too old" it seems because he not coming for cheap that's for sure. He'll be declining soon also.

    New Thread?

How much is the papers predicting Gerrard will come for? I remember when he was suppose to leave Liverpool a few years ago he was rated around 30m pounds. Can't see him being worth that much now but Liverpool will try and milk every penny out of him like they did Xabi.

But I also think he'd do well here.

Its a big shame that Mourinho isnt the type of manager to buy young up and coming players, you know less established players such as Silva or Gourcuff. He'll always go for the finished article and that alongside his tendencies to play defensive style footy are two thing which go against him.

One things for sure, he better not bring Muntari with him :D
