Re: Rand Paul Deserves His Own Thread since he's got his own thread now, might as well put this gem of idiocy in it:
Exactly WHO is coming for me? And I'm sorry but there are far more insidious forces out there harming all of society that Paul will fight like the IRS, corporatism, the war on drugs and the war machine. Something that you all agree with and that no other politician has the balls to touch. These CURRENT things, IMO, far outweigh how he would have voted on legislation passed when he was 2
Re: Rand Paul Deserves His Own Thread I was thinking it's a take on Ayn Rand. maybe not, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was.
You probably wouldn't be affected at all, which is why you are so blase about the whole thing, as is Rand. That's the whole point of the quote. People who don't care about the plight of others right next door in the midst of situations like these and remain "neutral" may be paving the way for their own suffering, down the line. I wouldn't have figured you to be one to miss that.

If you care about what that "some" thinks enough to even mention it, you really do need to come out of the closet. Yes, you do. You're feigning ignorance. The Right and Paul's bogeyman is President Obama. In 1964, the man in the White House was White and old. No matter what he said, he was, on some level, one of them. But Obama isn't. In the eyes of the Right, he's the contents of the proverbial can of worms opened during the Civil Rights movement, the demon who shows up at your house when the teenage daughter starts playing with an occult book. LBJ is simply the man who supported the can/occult book's opening. Oh! I see Brotha Sometime has shown up to fight the good fight this morning. Saints be praised...
Ask Rand Paul. He is the one who would be fine with a business owner turning me away at a gas station as I travel down I95. And apparently you are too. That's good to know.
The reason why sensible libertarians are distancing themselves from Rand Paul's opinion is because they recognize that the Civil Rights Act was necessitated by monopolies/cartels in the deep south. It wasn't just one drug store with a segregated lunch counter; it was every drug store. This occurred on top of segregation instituted at the public level. The segregation was enforced by Johnny Law as well as Johnny Pitchfork-and-Noose.
Re: Rand Paul Deserves His Own Thread Right, it's a stage name. His first name is a take on Ayn Rand, and his last name is a take on Ron Paul. Or maybe he's Ron Paul's son Randal.
This warmed my cockles. http://www.salon.com/news/libertari...r_room/2010/05/21/libertarianism_who_needs_it The title of that article is nice, too. Nobody. Yet.
Re: Rand Paul Deserves His Own Thread Rand is against gvt. interfering with private businesses. "Rand, speaking of BP, do you think that deep water drilling is overregulated, underregulated, or juuuuuust right?"
Re: Rand Paul Deserves His Own Thread Rand Paul: Exhibit #1 why Libertarians are unelectable. Edit: In a general election.
Re: Rand Paul Deserves His Own Thread So I'm trying to avoid hyperboles here, is what he is saying is that any business owner can be discriminatory it is his/her free choice, and if government steps in this is government over stepping its bounds?
