I agree. He is staying in England. I just threw his name out there because he is an example of the kind of player I think the DP should be used for. Young, skilled, good person, not too big of a name, wont cause a circus, etc.

Yeah, I agree that this is the type of signing I'd like to see. If we do decide to go the route of the fading star, isn't Van Nistelrooij's contract up just about in time for the stadium opening?

Juan Román Riquelme. I would love to see him in Kansas City.

Riquelme for the a-mid (we move Arnaud to the right wing).

Also since it is abundantly clear that Vermes is not going to start Kamara up top in the 4-3-3 that we have been running why not go for a central forward.

In the following order I would like an
    A-mid
    Striker/CF
    a right winger

Cambiasso please - one of my favorites. Yeah, it's not our weakest spot but the guy is magic, and I think he has too much pride to pull a Lothar Matteus. Trezeguet would be good as well. I like the idea of going after a younger DP, but I think KC might be an easier sell to someone who has already had their fill of Europe.

oh and if we get a shot at DaMarcus Beasly, jump on it.

just like some are going to jump on me for suggesting it.

I vote for the player with no Wikipedia page, not a single YouTube video, and best of all, no driver's license...Emerson Hyndman. :D Or Ronaldinho would work too.

    +1

He is rumoured to be on the way out at Boca, still has several more years as a productive player, and would be a major upgrade at A-mid.

Robbie Keane or Michael Owen -- harvested off my site, was trying to drive comments to the thread not my own comments. Robbie Keane would be good me thinks.

I think Emile Heskey would tear MLS up.

For real. His brother didn't look to shabby in the game today either. Similar player - just gets the ball and RUNS .... kinda fun.

Only a forward will do. I don't care if he's Mexican, S. American, African, European, or U.S.ofAmerican so long as he A) is NOT over the hill and B) has proven--preferably IS CURRENTLY PROVING--that he can score lots and lots of goals...tomorrow is my birthday and all I want is goals--please, por favor & sil vous plait! Maybe re-sign Herculez Gomez as a FORWARD--then pay him $50K for each goal he scores :p

The original (now fat) Ronaldo. Faster than Lopez was and he can still finish better than anyone currently in MLS. Tranny's of the area unite!

Oliver Kahn - would still be an MLS Allstar

Brad Freidel - Still better than Keller, the primary reason we advanced in WC'02 - another instant MLS Allstar

The Brazillian striker for... Osaka I think it was.

    Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud Van Nistelroooooooooooooooj.

Your things will be waiting for you in the hallway when you get home due to this statement.

I love you, but I hate Beasley more.

    Laughing-out-loud.

They way a lot of you guys care about some of these people makes me giggle. I don't care who we sign. As long as he can play and he's not a murderer. These are also the same characteristics I look for in a Spades partner.

It HAS to be a very speedy right winger. Ryan Smith is good, but the league has already figured him out, and he has not figured out the league yet. If Ryan is going to be effective he'll need the room he had the first 2 weeks. To do so, We need his equivalent in style and speed either on the opposite side or up top to draw the extra attention Ryan is getting. Hopefully this is a player who has the ability and experience to beat and overcome the extra attention. Then you have 2 players who are free to be very dangerous. My vote goes to Clarence Seedorf. If he is out of reach, then I don't see many better options than Jesper Grønkjær. Both are experienced, have flair, and are used to the "target man" attention. Not to mention world class talents.
P.S. Show Ryan Smith some old Preki videos, maybe it will speed up his learning curve.

I think that the Wizards need a pure striker that can be dangerous every time he touches the ball and knows how to FINISH. Getting a younger player that will spend some time with the club would be great, but an experienced international name player would generate a lot of interest and excitement. I have a couple of names in mind:

    1. Louis Fabiano. (Brazilian that plays for Sevilla) Now 30 years old, is a lights out striker with great touch and a wicked shot. Still has a good 5 years of top level play left to give.

    2. Zlatan Ibrahimović. (Swedish that plays for Barcelona) Great striker that I believed never fit into the kind of soccer that Barcelona plays. Excellent technician, strong, and would fit into the MLS beautifully.
