I hope Lavezzi gets in the final 23. He can play on either flank, as well as upfront and he is quick, something that is pretty essential in the modern game.

Pastore has been outstanding in his first season in Italy and he offers creativety, he's someone who might make a difference if we are chasing a game and he comes on as sub for 20 mins.

the case of pupi is very curious. if diego calls him to the 30 logic says he makes 23 because he won't even be able to join the squad until after the CL final. as Pupi said a few weeks ago "diego knows what i can offer the team" and a training camp and a friendly match against canada shouldn't be needed to judge him against garbage like clemente and otamendi. If Diego calls up Pupi and then cuts him from the 23 it would be the ultimate sign of disrespect (even more than he's already shown him) for the guy who has played more for argentina than anyone else in history.

i would not be surprised if lavezzi made it as a winger

also pozo did not impress me last night against godoy cruz. had some poor clearences, one which led to a shot off the cross bar, then a weak punch that higuain headed home. also did not make many clean saves and let in 3. i know whoever goes will never play, but pozo is just not good enough for the nt

Wouldn't it be sweet if Aimar got into the shortlist? I still think he is the most complete creative midfielder in the last 10 years.

It's surely his last chance and even if he doesn't make the final squad, it would be a nice touch.

Cancha llena says the last option in midfield is Gago, Datolo or Banega. I'd like to see both Gago and Banega, but if you reduce it to one I hope it's Banega.

I'm not sure how Datolo has got on this list in the first place, buy yeah, as you say if it has to be one from those 3 then it should, imho, be Banega.

Banega can play the role of defensive midfielder, but what gives him the edge is that he can also be a play maker.

After watching both Estudiantes and Inter advance in their respective tournaments, it was painfully obvious that even at his age Zanetti is still a couple of notches above Clemente, both attacking and defending. Even Diego had to see that, and I hope he is man enough to accept that he was wrong when he originally dismissed Zanetti from his plans. Hopefully he has the huevos to admit his mistake and call Pupi.

And I say that even though I am a fan of Clemente, I like his game, it's a similar game to Zanetti's but he's nowhere near Zanetti in class nor will he ever be. This is not a knock on Clemente, because Zanetti is an all-time great at his position, he's the Marzolini of our time. It's a travesty if he doesn't go to the WC, just like it was a travesty in 06 when he didn't go

It sucks that Angeleri is injured. He can play both CB and RB and i really dont see a replacement for him and i hate to go into the WC with 1 RB who has age on him. my 2nd choice is Ansaldi even though he is my first choice ahead of Clemente

they just said that zanetti may not be in the 30, and that ariel garce has made it. apparently it will either be zanetti or lucho gonzalez in the 30. jesus

Well rumors in Ole and Clarin are not looking good for those two, however Zanetti's name is still being thrown around.
Palermo they say is pretty much a shoe in, and Bolatti keps coming up as is Mercier:rolleyes:
We just have to wait and see.
