Address: 4750 Sherbrooke Street East, in Montreal’s Olympic Park
Capacity: Currently 13,034 but will be increased to more than 20,000 by 2012
    Pitch: Natural grass, 120 yards x 77 yards (110 meters x 70 meters)
Corporate boxes: Corporate suites: Currently 16, and 12 corporate marquees, but 50 suites in 2012
Parking: 6 underground parking lots, for a total of 4,000 parking places

For the flack we get for our stadium being "cheap" (and, currently, it is), this will be a great stadium to watch a game in, and the fans will be on top of the players (despite the low incline). The first rows are closer than what I've seen in many other MLS stadiums, and I believe we'll be one of the only MLS stadiums that's fully enclosed with no second level.

Just curious, but what's that Aztec temple looking building in the picture behind the stadium?

its the structure that was supposed to hold the retractable roof for the 1976 summer olympics that were held in montreal

a great looking structure, but was found to be unable and unsafe to do the job-- weak concrete!!-- and has not been used for decades

they should expand the stadium to hold 25 000, not the suggested 20 000- they will need it IMO

Montreal is following a model for stadium building that is more consistent w/ around the world when a team moves up through the divisions. I think it's great. They will have a 20k seat stadium in a good location for a relatively small investment. If the team is successful, it will get upgraded over time. Probably one stand at a time.

No, not the Olympic Stadium. I think his question is what is that Pyramid-like ("Aztec") shaped building behind the stadium (in the other direction) in the last picture?

That Aztec pyramid shaped building behind the big O is what once was the Olympic Village back in 1976. They are now condos and offices.

i dunno, Saputo stadium seems pretty mediocre. It'd be better if Olimpique Montreal played in the Olimpic Stadium

I'm glad you're not in charge of picking the team names.

its all part of the plans ... Joey Saputo said (and have a deal with CIO) to hold important games in the Olympic Stadium... its not for no reason both stadium are so close to each other

MLS desperately needs teams in Miami, Tampa, Atlanta and Raleigh.

Perfectly serviceable stadium. I suspect Montreal is going to be very popular; at some point the team will need to decide on expanding Stade Saputo or mocing into newer more glamorous digs.

I think Seattle Sounders is a crap name and you should have changed it when you came to MLS. But seeing as I'm from Philly and it isn't my team, it really doesn't matter what I like better. If the Montreal fans like their current name they should keep it, doesn't matter what the rest of us think is "better".

they actually don't get much money from canadian clubs, thats why teams left quebec and winnipeg, and edmonton and calgary nearly left because they were bankrupt.
