I know the injuries are not the same but if TT watched any of the Bruins game the other day and how it ended with Savard scoring in his first game back since his concussion. I can't imagine him not being a little envious of that.
we got nothin this season. TnT getting healthy is the best shot we have. He's got 1 yr left. keep him.
Keep him, and he sits out the season, and then he is a free agent. For the sake of some bounds on my cynicism, let's hope he doesn't announce a "Miracle Cure" a week or two after his contract has expired..... sigh.
Think of it this way. You've had a significant injury that has essentially kept you out for 2 years. You are now participating more and more in practice but you still don't know your date to return to play. Then you hear that the team has placed you on IR. Wouldn't you want answers why they didn't disclose any information about how close you are to returning. Last year Twellman had a date in mind. He made it to that date and started playing. Some doctors said if he had waited 2 weeks he would have been fine and would be playing now. That's why they aren't giving Twellman a date. At this point it's more mental then physical. Twellman is going to be fine, but the doctors want to make sure that he doesn't go through this type of rehab again. In the case of Reis, the team and Reis knew he wouldn't be returning til June so it makes sense to put him on IR.
I'm not sure this is a correct statement. I think a more valid characterization is that Twellman, under the advice of his medical team is moving slowly making sure each step in his rehab and progression toward returning to full participation is solid before he takes the next step forward. In light of last years relapse thats a prudent way to proceed. Mentally I think he's ready to go but is smart enough to be willing to follow sound medical advice.
The doctor's advice is determined by how he feels. There is no test or examination finding at this point which is more relevant. The line between physical and mental is likely to be very blurry.
Unless one of you is willing to admit, in detail, to some special back channel to TnT and his Doctors, I think these posts are all wild speculation. That's fine, I do it all the time. The irony is that the majority of the last half dozen posters are the ones that give the most grief about, "you shouldn't speculate."
I get the impression that he is on a pretty fixed schedule, one they won't accelerate even if he says he feels great doing a particular step (Twellman does have a history of not being forthcoming about injuries/physical problems). Try the special back channel to the Revs blog (Jeff Lemieux has said many times that what Twellman is allowed to do is determined by the program the doctors have laid out for him).
I refer you back to Jon Martin's post. Additionally, how does that Blog comment have anything to do with speculation in these posts that TnT was not put on IR because (implied heavily but never directly stated) he's likely to be back in the next 6 games. Or that it might hurt his feelings if he was placed on IR? I really love that last one. Finally, for the umpteenth time, why can't the doctors articulate how they are making these decisions to progress TnT? They went to school for a bazillion years, they must have at least adequate communication skills. [Edit] Beyond finally, I don't read the blog, other than to look if someone here makes a reference. Call me old fashioned but I don't consider team paid reporting to be news. You can keep having fun with the "well the blog said you dummy" arguments but I still won't read it.
Let's see... I am not a doctor. I am not very interested in human biology. I know virtually nothing about the injuries Taylor may have -- and I don't know the team or the player or his doctors have ever publicly stated what those injuries actually are. I have never personally examined Taylor Twellman or interviewed his doctors regarding Taylor's confidential medical status. And since you are all in the same boat as me, how about we all shut the hell up and hope Taylor gets healthy ASAP.
Taylor Twellman Interview Two-part video posted on the team blog. My sound isn't working at the moment, so I have no idea if he says anything significant. [EDIT] I should have scrolled down. The text is there, too.
Glad to see TnT speaking about the situation. He mentioned he and Nicol have not been communicating well during this process.? That's not good. "but it’s a trying process to sit there and go through the passing drills and have every single one of your teammates look at you and say, ‘You’re not ready yet?’ That’s the hardest thing, especially seeing Steve Nicol on the sideline. Stevie and I haven’t talked a lot through this, because we both know that it’s difficult for both of us.” I would hope that changes soon and he brings Nicol in the loop as he believes he might be closer to a return to the pitch. It's only fair to Nicol as head coach and the other guys, organization etc. My other concern is that it would only take 1 strong challenge for a head ball to end the career. Not sure how a professional can play at 100% with that in the back of his mind. Time for: OR
Any minute now he'll be finished reading the new union contract. As soon as he does, he'll be ready to play.
He's only doing 52 mins. of non contact training right now. How long until he can train for 2 hours? How long until he can go 45 mins in an actual game?
You seem to seek explanations for things, but won't read the team's postings because they aren't "news"?
