At lunch I was asked by an Argentine Boca Juniors fan if I had heard the rumor about Martin Palermo transferring to the Fire this summer. I said that I haven't seen anything anywhere but if Palermo is even 75% of the quality Schelotto is then I would take him in a heartbeat.

    Anybody hear anything?

I don't know but i transfer his old ass to my club in Fifa and sell him for about a million so i can upgrade my Fitness.

Fire also have 4 Strikers and play only one in the current formation.

Martin Palermo is Argentina's version of Brian McBride. Not exactly the same style of players but most similar in comparison to a US player. Palermo has been kicking ass for Boca Jrs for so long I can barely imagine him outside of "La Primera". Is he a Schelotto? Well, work ethic, probably similar. Schelotto is a true midfield general, one of the best at the club level of all time, and a true champion. Palermo is a true target forward, who has battled in some of the strongest competitions South America can throw at him. It would be fun to see him for a couple of years in MLS. He might suffer from massive culture shock here but it would be interesting to see him in any other uniform besides the one he has represented the majority of his playing career.

This was a mere 3 years ago but damn what a goal!

Brazilian announcers but still fun to watch. Riquelme can be seen in there giving him a huge hug with an enormous smile. These kinds of goals are not seen every year.

Would I like to see Palermo in MLS? Hell yes!

There was a season he was playing for Boca Jrs where he was the league leader in scoring. He had such incredible luck that season that I remember watching a goal in which, I swear this happened, a long ball he had his back to knocked off top of his head and in for a goal. He had no idea where the ball was as he was turned around, one of the most hilarious I had ever seen, but haven't seen it since.

By the way, he just broke a Boca Jrs record for most goals scored for that club. He also scored over 40+ some goals for Estudiantes before he moved to Boca Jrs. In total, he has scored 221 goals in 360 games. UNREAL!

I seriously DOUBT he will touch foot in MLS unless they throw a hefty some of money at him he can't refuse.

I would like to bring him in he is lethal scorer. I would also like to see us get Appiah and Guily I know we would have to buy the 3rd spot, but I dont think it would cost to much to bring in all 3. I say 6 mil combined to land all 3.

I have not heard a real rumor as of late about Martin, but he would be awesome to have for 2 seasons someplace, even if it were not the FIRE. MLS should try hard for him.
