Another quality player out the door for a bright young prospect. Where have i heard this story before?
I'd rather have a young prospect playing his heart out 90 minutes a game, every game, than a superstar who puts in 5 minutes a month.
I wouldn't. The experience drain we have seen over the last couple of years has been unbelievable. Have you lost all faith in Wenger's man-management skills? This is another example in which I would expect Wenger to be able to sort out. That's what big managers do - manage big egos.
Arshavins quality will trump some 18 year old kids inconsistency. Im not against buying people as i think we could well do with a larger squad anyhow so bring Hazard in and keep Arshavin. Let Arshavin rest up this summer (not going to WC) and come back next year. If he continues with his lack of effort or poor form then others will naturally move above him in the depth chart and maybe he can be sold in January. I just see no signs that we should be ready to sell him this summer. Once again we have played this story out the last 5 summers running and i dont want to see round 6.
Wenger has his way of managing big egos. He sells them. I don't see the problem in getting rid of an experienced player who rarely contributes, and has an attitude that is exactly the opposite of what we want our younger players developing. Our team is lacking leadership, not experience.
Sell high. We need to raise funds to replenish our CB stock this summer anyway, so selling Arshavin makes even more sense.
Arshavin is not going anywhere, unless City comes in with a bid (and Chelsea to a lesser extent) he isnt going to Barca or Madrid, and none of the Italian clubs can afford him... I dont see him leaving Arsenal in a transfer...
Bullshit. Wenger keeps some and sells some, which frankly I think is ridiculous. We aren't good enough to be selling good players, but somehow, we've developed this attitude that we are. How much are you going to get above 15 million for a 28 year old player on a long contract? Arshavin is our second leading goalscorer behind Cesc. If you don't think he is contributing, I'd suggest you look at the other players first. It's great to bust your ass, but it's also great to have an impact on the actual result of the game. Wenger should be able to get him to straighten up. The guy bent over backwards to come here. Most good managers should be able to handle of couple of unruly players - most good players have egos. Dealing with those egos is key, and selling them isn't always the right way imo.
That sounds like a bunch of agent talk to me. It doesn't seem like anything serious, although I do expect Maicon to be at Madrid next year.
is that really how journos get on with their job? lulz. "if they sell Maicon it's only natural that my client who I represent and whom I stand to make boatloads in fees off by chumming the waters with innuendo and assumptions thus encouraging him to leave his current club where he is under contract, should be considered a replacement"
Bacary Sagna's agent: “I have been in contact with Inter but nothing serious has been done yet. It is too early. “We will talk about it at a later stage.” wtf is his agent talking to another club for? agents are leeches on this game, always have been, always will be. snakes, the lot of them.

Wow. From the look of Arsenal.com we have 65 players on pro contracts. Quite a few are young guys just recently signed on. My question is do we really need 6 GK's? Are the likes of Gilbert Ayling Cruise Obed Hoyte Good enough to play in our back four? Or are midfielders: Barazite Randall Henderson Lansbury ever gonna turn out for the first team? How about a striker like murphy? We have young players ahead of ALL of them in the pecking order. And highly rated youngsters coming through. That is a lot of youth.
If we dont offer them professional terms then they leave for nothing or even if another club comes in we get a pittance (based on that new rule you have to pay a certain sum to the club for development right?). Where as if we develop them for a couple of years and sell them to a Championship or League 1 team we get a lot more money and it helps fund our academy. Lulz at the reasoning behind selling Arshavin from most of you. Guy has been a top 5 contributor easy on this team this year. Mostly injury free, key crucial goals, second top scorer, fifth in games started, third in total appearances, not to mention all the intangibles like the experience he brings into the starting 11, his overall skill, etc. SELL HIM NOW! MODS OUT!
I agree. I was just pointing out that it might be time to ship a couple of those players out. I'd say there is 2-6 mil gbp in there.
obed is gone. young guns has already said that he won't be offered a contract and is already going out on trials. meh, never rated hoyte. physically gifted but blah game. i actually thought more highly of his brother. i think this was to be gilbert's make-or-break year (doesn't look like a 'make'). randall will probably be on his way to a championship club after this season. never saw henderson but, considering the kids that have been starting in reserve, i don't think he'll be around much longer. i thought/hoped that barazite would come good but he keeps breaking down, i think a lot of people here see him going after this season anyway. murphy seems to be on the aliadiere path. cruise and ayling just graduated from U-18 to reserve. cruise is more defensive a left-back than i'm used to wenger having so he's probably just keeping the spot warm until the next big thing. i liked ayling in the games i've seen him. he'll need a few years to physically get there but i like his game. lansbury is supposed to be looking good on loan and he's highly rated. i can see him making a push soon. and, really, you do need some kids to be "fillers" besides the "superstars".
