There doesn't appear to be any television broadcast for this game, I'm afraid. :(

Still, this is Bonus Game A for season-ticket holders.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

This is dead-on the lineup I was expecting to see for this match except I would switch Robles and Wondo since I've seen them play in RM and LM respectively during the pre-season.

It's still a pretty solid lineup and if we do well in this match, it would show the quality of our depth which would help us go far in the U.S. Open Cup.

Since tickets are only $10 I'm planning on bringing a few folks to their first Quakes match. Hope everyone tries to make it to this match. Last year's attendance was pretty poor.

Beta for Leitch at the half and he who plays better, plays Saturday.
Weber for Busch at the half.
I suppose we have to give Sealy minutes (gag  ) if his paperwork is done.

I really hope FY doesn't take this game as a "friendly", after the game opener fiasco, this game should be considered as a "Pay back" type of a game.

    I'm expecting a serius line up !

I hope we will play the full line-up.
I don't want to see some bench player play this game.
We want to WIN and WIN anything we can.

I know the reserve guys need an opportunity to play, but the quakes need to win something, so the open cup would be nice to have.

Am I the only one who wants to see Convey in the lineup Saturday. Terrific assist on the winning goal.

I disagree. The Earthquakes have never taking the Open Cup seriously and this isn't the time to start. But this is a good time to try out players on the B team that are very soon going to be on the A team (and you now have the music going through your heads). The right time isn't against a local college team and it isn't in a league game that counts. This game couldn't come at a better time for that purpose.

Brilliant assist but I hope Bobby sits. I think they need to stroke his ego.

Having him sit would "stroke" his ego?

I thought this was supposed to be the new Quakes where there's competition at every position and they're capable of playing more a rotation system (even if we don't really need it) rather than having a group we look at as the first team and one we view as the reserves?

I'm not sure that we'll see a nearly full change from the starting lineup, but players I would expect to start for sure would be the guys who are not currently starting that are starting quality players:

    Sanchez
    Busch
    Robles
    Glen
    Eduardo (if healthy enough)

Does anyone know what Opara's situation is. I thought he was going to stay at Wake Forest until graduation in May.

I don't know, but I see USMNT potential in this kid. He makes mistakes but he makes plays too. And he's got great athleticism and seems to have his head on straight. He could be a real catch.

Graduation shmaduation. It can wait. :) Not sure exactly how he's working this out, but the school thing has certainly worked out to be close to a non-issue in terms of his avaibility with the team. That said, he'd probably be a little more comfortable had he been able to attend full preseason camp.

By the way, what time is the game on Wed?

I really doubt FY will see this as an important game. Likely we will see the bench players and those who haven't played much/yet this season. The good thing is these players are not too big a drop off from the current "starters". The bad side of it implies 2 things. Some of our "starters" are not too much better than the average subs, and FY has played players should probably sit on the bench so far.

Agreed. For the first time since their return, I have no problem with the depth of the team.

In fact, I'm hoping to see several of the "reserves" play. Edmundo, Ring, Morrow...

Cup runs take winning a number of matchups. You are better off just trying to get through the first few rounds while protecting your season, then as you get closer prioritizing if you made it deeper into the cup.
