I've given up on the site completely, someone let me know when it's back to being informational like the old site was.
Me four. I find the layout pretty bad (No standings on the front page, no TV listings, etc), and the lack of a Major League Soccer focus on the MajorLeagueSoccerSoccer website is terrible. I get all my other soccer news from better websites and blogs. That's not what I check MLS for. This is supposed to be the official, league website for hard news... They've yet to act like that. Also, the writing, in general, has been pretty bad. Like a bad blog. And the Silverlight decision is still Oh-My-God dumb.
anyone seen an injury report lately? there was one LAST TUESDAY but no update last Friday so far as I could tell, and this week I couldn't even find one on Tuesday. as far as the overall site, I hate how it looks and I hate how it has a lot of international content which I think is bogus and only takes away from MLS, the league I love first and foremost. otoh, and to be fair, I have found many newsworthy articles lately amongst all the articles they have posted re MLS; they seem to be coming a mile a minute these days adn I have found some to be informative, if not exactly well written or crafted.
Re: Mlssoccer goal of the week? Gone? It might have been a glorified popularity contest, but it was cool to see the "best" goals each week, even if some were occasionally omitted. Without it, there's one fewer time I go to the league website every week.
Re: Mlssoccer goal of the week? Gone? I'd be fine with having it back if the GOTW were decided by a media vote, player vote, or something that's at least slightly more objective. Though, I do wonder how the management at MLSSoccer.com managed to convince their bosses that getting rid of it was a good thing, consider all of the hit counts they'll lose from ballot-box stuffers.
MLSnet or MLSsoccer? Is it MLSnet or MLSsoccer? Just received an email from "MLSnet.com". I thought that was discontinued. Is anybody in charge over there?
The talking heads in the videos of the League's official website refer to the league as "the MLS." Awesome.
Re: Mlssoccer goal of the week? Gone? Agreed, I use to watch Extra Time every time. It was not perfect, but it was best source for MLS and I enjoyed something focused on my league. The Daily feels like someone flips on a camera and just shoots the breeze. "So, Champion's League..." "Yeah, Barcelona v. Arsenal feels vanilla to me." Whaaa? I hear plenty about Europe as is, I want to hear more about MLS and not just stating things we all know. I am amazed at how much worse they managed to make things this year in this regard.
My MLS Soccer Highlights Link Generator... http://home.comcast.net/~anotherchancetosee/mls_highlights_selector.html Is this any good to anyone? I've whipped up this simple webpage which allows you to dynamically generate the Highlights video links to MLSSoccer.com . The idea behind it is that if you have a list of the weeks matchups handy, you can get to the Highlights videos without knowing the results beforehand. The links it creates should start to work as soon as MLSSoccer gets the videos up, which this weekend should be by Sunday. Most of the first two week's matchups work already, but there's a few oddballs where they didn't stick to (or hadn't yet established) the standard URL format. Hopefully they'll stick to this pattern going forward. FWIW, here's the URLs the page generates for this weekend's matches. http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/highlights-ny-chv http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/highlights-dc-phi http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/highlights-tor-ne http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/highlights-col-kc http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/highlights-la-hou http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/highlights-clb-dal http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/highlights-sj-chi http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/highlights-sea-rsl If anyone has any comments or suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them. I can't promise I can implement them, but I'll do what I can.
If I buy the season pass, can I watch games that have already been played? For example, this weekend, I don't have enough DVR tuners to record the matches. So if I want to watch one of the Sat. games next week, can I do that?
The photo section is beyond amateurish...the links don't line up still- just empty boxes. Won't bother bitching about the names of the sections anymore, I guess MLS thinks those are great ideas. I can't believe this site is still in this shape. I've never seen a train wreck take this long to get fixed, not anywhere I've been employed, at least.
Just checked the Stats section on the site, and there's text that reads "Regular Season 2010", but nothing updated yet for this year, and we're getting close to the start of week 3. With baseball season having started this past week and the immense statistical data generated from each day's baseball games (and the dependence of that sport on such data), I can only imagine what the uproar would have been like had MLB been similarly negligent. While statistical analysis can be quite involved and something of an art, simple tabulation shouldn't take long at all, especially with the relative poverty of events recorded in a soccer match. Until they get whatever mechanism functioning that's supposed to automatically update every statistical file on the entire site (matchtracker? something else?), I think they need to just manually tabulate the stats for now and at least give us up-to-date league leaders and roster/team totals. This is really at the basic level of information that MLS should be providing.
All games are archived about 48 hours after they are played. So, yes, you should be able to watch all of the games by Wed or Thurs, including the national broadcasts. That's what I have witnessed so far Take it for what it's worth! Mike
Even worse, they refer to the Galaxy stadium as the Home Depot Center. The brand is "The Home Depot", so you should refer to it as "the The Home Depot Center", or "the THDC". But some people just refuse to get a handle on the indefinite articles. I bet these people support communist health care too.
Thanks so much. At first, I tried building a dynamic grid of all the links, but frankly, it looked a mess. This works better and lets you get to just the game highlights you want to see. Hope it works on Sunday....
They seem to have settled into a pattern of the four featured stories on the home page including three from MLS and one from elsewhere. If this is intentional, and not just an accident, it seems a good proportion. Stats are still stuck in a time warp. I agree with the poster (not on this thread, I think) who noted that there would be a riot among baseball fans if major league baseball's website were still showing last season's stats two weeks into the new season. The schedule is far better than it was the first weekend of the season. However, when you look at it, it always starts you at the beginning of the season, in March. This is OK now, when you only have to scroll down a little bit to get to the current games. However, if it's still this way in August, when you'd have to scroll down though four months of games, it's gonna get very old (no pun intended). We'll find out tomorrow how the match tracker is doing. It was much better last weekend than it was at the start of the season.
