    off the purple line
I don't have an HD TV but this was similar to the question I was going to post. Is FSC and FS+ already HD on DirecTV or not? If so, is there a separate channel for each? The Inter-CSKA game on FS+ was listed as HD, which I think is the first time I've seen a game on this channel listed as HD.

No, DirecTV won't have any new HD channels until the new satellite is ready. Give it a couple more weeks.

Likely late April or early May. FS+ shows Serie A, EPL, and Champions League in HD. But no kne carries FS+ in HD yet. It is very likely that DirecTV will have both FSC and FS+ in HD.

not "can't see the difference" but "can't see why I would want to pay to upgrade for the difference"

and the logistics/production value of 3D can easily be experienced by watching any 3D movie and extrapolating that to your living room.

but i'll gladly await others' reviews of the 3D experience.

Well that's cool. To me the cost doesn't matter so I never even considered that reason.

i know that 3D was much more impressive in IMAX than in a "normal" theater, but then again, IMAX itself is much more impressive than "normal" theater.

i would imagine for the 3D effect to be satisfying, the screen would have to fill a significant chunk of your field of view. that means either a monster screen, or the viewer gets up close and personal with a smaller screen. i'm not sure this is in the cards for me anytime soon.

Yeah my 3Dtv is 67" that seems to be big enough. We'll see come June 11th though.

yeah, that would seem large enough. especially if your viewing distance is <8ft for a screen that size. supposedly at >8ft, the benefits of 1080p are lost on viewers. then again, ESPN HD (like FSC HD) is 720, right?

what's the resolution for ESPN 3D HD?

I looked at a 3D set at BB. It was interesting but IMHO the big 3D effect is most pronounced in the close up shots. So for games, the close in replays may be fun but most of the wide, end to end shots prob will look much the same as reg HD.

That's actually a very good question. All ESPN HD channels are 720p I wonder if they'd go 1080p for the 3D channel. We will see.

I'm planning on getting the Panasonic Plasma that also does 3D so I've been trying to find out when Comcast in my area will finally carry FSC HD. I've now had multiple reps tell me that it will be ready to go by the end of April or early May which just happens to be around the same time my TV is supposed to start shipping. I will say that I'm not buying the new TV until FSC HD is launched on Comcast so I really hope these reps are telling the truth.

my question is, is fsc hd going to have a very clear picture like the group stage of the champions league on directtv or is it goin to be like the man u game vs milan on fox (it said hd, but the picture wasnt as clear as the group stages)?

    thanks in advance..

FSC HD rarely looks as good as the matches ESPN shows. It is a HUGE upgrade over the sd channel though.

They are in the 400s, they have been showing all the Champions League & Europa games that aren't on the big channels. All for free if you have the sports pack. Very good deal, especially for us Liverpool fans forced to watch them in the Europa League while Gol TV aren't showing them live.

They were not, there is no broadcast of 1080p over Satellite yet.

They were 720p I believe, I am pretty sure they were done in cooperation with Fox Sports and they do everything in 720p.

That's actually not true. DirecTV shows some pay per view movies in 1080p.

I am being told all the 3D channels will be in 1080p. DirecTV already shows some pay per view movies in 1080p and it looks like these other companies want to give viewers the highest quality resolution they can to maximize the 3D effect.
