I have been fortunate enough to attend several MLS finals and enjoy attending MLS Cup regardless if my team is in the final. It's a great opportunity to mingle with other MLS Fans from across the country. It's turned into an annual roadtrip. With that being said I'm not sure how excited I am to be sitting outside at night in CANADA in late November.

I'm curious to see if others think this is the best idea for a time and place for the MLS Cup. I understand that promoting new SSS is important. But Toronto would be a lot better locale for the All-Star game in July as they did in '08. Colorado is more pleasant in Nov. then Toronto IMO.

What's wrong with a little weather? I'm hoping for an MLS Cup in the snow.

Should be fine. MLS fans are capable of wearing a jacket and watching a soccer match at the same time.

and no matter what the weather, the game will be sold out....as they always are at BMO.

i would be more concerned about perfect weather for other teams when they can only draw 8000 people.

This was mentioned in the news thread of the same topic, but if TFC somehow manage to make it to the final, what are the chances of it getting moved to Rogers Centre?

    ^ there is no chance.

The MLS cup was awarded to Toronto and Toronto FC... they play at BMO field.

they would not want to rent rogers centre for that game

    Rogers Centre as an option.

Aside from the two obvious reasons for not going there (TFC/MLSE not controlling the facility so having to pay rent and TFC support, generally, feeling that the game is better played in the city's soccer stadium) there would be a real scheduling problem at RC.

Sunday November 21 is the scheduled date for the Eastern and Western finals in the CFL. In the off chance that the Argos were hosting the Eastern final Rogers Centre would not be available.

Even if you waited until the time that you knew for sure this was not an issue....the logistics of moving the game (and selling 28k more tickets on short notice) would prevent a move.

It will be at BMO...that you can count on.

Re: Rogers Centre as an option.

Given the TFC waiting list and the bandwagon fans that would go to see them in th MLS Cup Final, I think selling the tickets wouldn't be an issue. The scheduling would be and they would also have to raise ticket prices to make up for the cost of renting the facility. I concede that this is not a possibility.

Re: Rogers Centre as an option.

It is not just that easy.....so, let's say, you sell 22k for BMO...then two weeks from kick off you find out that SkyDome is available.....first you have to "re-map" the tickets....so the guy who has section 122 row 5 seat 18 (no idea if that is a real seat) has to be told he is now sitting in row 5 section 118A seat 12....then he says...wait a minute, row 5 at BMO allows me to see over the people on the sidelines...row 5 at SkyDome does not (one of the real problems with the stadium as a soccer venue...you have to be up in row 15 - 20 or higher to be able to see properly)...then you have to figure out what to do with the end zone seating...and so on and so on.

I am reasonably confident that the game has been announced at BMO, will not be moved from BMO and will be successfully held at BMO....and toque sales will be brisk.

Weather isn't an issue as mentioned.

    Average November temperature: 7ºC / 45ºF
    November average high: 11ºC / 52ºF
    November average low: 1ºC / 30ºF
Visitors can expect rain about 10 out of 30 days in November.

That's good news. Not a bad temp. range at all.I plan to be there. Regardless if TFC qualifies I think it should be held at BMO to promote the SSS and the legendary atmosphere that TFC has created. The TFC fans and organization deserve it. It will be a very tough ticket. They should consider setting up an MLS Fan Zone with a huge outdoor movie screen like FIFA did in Germany for fans to gather nearby at the fairgrounds. The atmoshpere in the city should be great for this event throughout the weekend.

That's an excellent idea. And since MLSE is all about the money, maybe they can apply for some sort of temporary permit to sell alcohol and make some money at their fan fest.

The game will not be moved to Skydome.

MLSE has spent loads of money renovating BMO Field. They want to show it off.
