I've spent some relaxing hours at a place called Camp Swampy where they have nice, polite men they call USMC, DI's that might help this young man change his attitude making him consider playing for Steve Nicol to amount to deliverance. :)

If Nicol wasn't willing to take on an established professional like Guevara when he had the opportunity, I don't think he'd give a 2nd thought to someone like Szetela.

As long as you don't want a stout roster.

Nicol + a lazy headcase like Danny Szetela = complete waste of time and money

Don't get sucked in by the unrealized potential, folks. We'll get more value out of Castro and Phelan.

My question is how old was Guevara at that time (I really don't know)? But I think Szetela is still young enough where I think he can still be molded.

2 or 3 years ago he was pretty much available to anyone in the league. His skill set would have been a very good match for what we needed, but I think there were a lot of questions about his attitude (which I think he vindicated pretty well).

Yeah, Szetela and Nowak would be a match made in heaven.

One thing for sure--Nowak won't put up with any of his crap. Frankly, I hope he can turn the kids around.

When you're babysitting a bunch of teenagers already, what's one more? The Union's going to need a den mother.

I agree, he had a lot of promise. It's been disappointing to watch him fizzle out

however, evidence doesn't suggest he (Nowak) will have any more success than anyone else would. Despite the hoards of "super promising/future of American soccer" little boys he once had underneath him (probably literally as well as figuratively:D) from the days when DC United stood for "day care united" under Nowak, none have really proved out to live up to their promise. I'm not sure he really has an special skill as a coach with developing talent, at least no more than anyone else. Seeing as Sigi, who does have an exceptional history with developing talent couldn't get this kid to get serious.....

kind of makes me sad for Danny.

... although, I'll be happy if he's at any competitor of ours screwing up their chemistry and being a distraction :D
