I've also posted this on another site but seeing as there is always intelligent life on this site, thought I would run it here as well. Whilst GZ has said he will continue to manage the club, I seriously doubt that he will retain his job for next year. Given this circumstance, let's have a serious look at who we could get or want. There are always the same old names touted,i.e. Hoddle, O'Leary, Venables etc but I don't think any of these have a serious chance of getting the job. Others mentioned have been McClaren, Hughes, Mowbray. I wouldn't like any of them. McClaren has not really been a success anywhere, Mowbray likewise and Hughes I believe has turned the job down anyway. Also he would want a massive budget to buy players, which he wouldn't get. I read today that O'Neill has had to refute rumours he is leaving Villa. Now he is a good manager but whether he could work with G & S is another matter. I seriously think that we are not in a position to attract a top line manager and will have to look to the Championship or lower to get what we want. Pardew immediately springs to mind and I for one would not mind him coming back. Yes I know there were some issues supposedly but he was a manager who showed great passion for the club and the fans and I think he would be welcomed back by most, particularly since he seems to have taken his medicine and drop a couple of divisions to re-invent himself. The other ex-manager is Curbishley but I don't think he would be welcomed back and given that he has had a legal issue with the club is probably not a good idea. I'll throw up a few other names and invite others to make comment: Chris Coleman (Coventry City) Nigel Clough (Notts Forest) Phil Brown (Unemployed) Brian McDermott (Reading) Dave Jones (Cardiff) Ian Holloway ( Blackpool) Robert De Matteo (West Brom) Nigel Pearson ( Leicester) Paul Lambert (Norwich) The last two are a bit controversial one but I'll put them up anyway: Paolo di Canio Paul Ince Or would you prefer to see GZ keep the job?
I think that GZ is going to come good, but probably not with us. What about Steve Clarke? Oh and Stomper wants to know why he cant log on anymore.
Hoddle, NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS (NIAMY) O'Leary, NIAMY Venables NAIMY McClaren, NO Hughes, MAYBE YEAH (IF HE'D WANT IT) Mowbray. NIAMY O'Neill OH MY GOD YES! (AINT GONNA HAPPEN) Pardew NO Curbishley NIAMY (COZ HE WOULDNT) Chris Coleman (Coventry City) ER......NAH Nigel Clough (Notts Forest)NO Phil Brown (Unemployed) BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Brian McDermott (Reading) NO Dave Jones (Cardiff) ER.....NO Ian Holloway ( Blackpool)INTERVIEW Robert De Matteo (West Brom) DUNNO Nigel Pearson ( Leicester) MAYBE Paul Lambert (Norwich)YEAH PROBABLY Paolo di Canio LETS PUT A CRAZY FASCIST IN CHARGE! ER.....NO Paul Ince I COULD SEE IT GZ I LIKE THE WAY WEST HAM PUT FAITH IN A MANAGER MARTIN ALLEN INTERVIEW
I´d take, in order: Impossible ones: O´Neill Sparky Moyes Hodgson Then possible ones: McLeish Curbs McClaren, fine record at club level Halloway, at least for fun Dowie Clough jr, fine record Di Matteo, fine record Dave Jones, probably learned his lessons Paul Lambert Norwich that chap they kicked out at Preston Haven´t got a clue on Martin Allen´s abilities as a manager but like the idea much!
Come on guys. Bilic doesn´t have any experience at club level and wouldn´t fancy a bit taking another that kind after Zola. Besides, since his departure I have personally forgot even his name. And now back? No way
So it seems Zola will be out, maybe already today. Just hope it isn´t Billic - or whatever was the name of that former great faithful Everton player with no experience managing at club level.
OK so it´s official now. Anyone heard of Clarke? But the best joke today is from the official statement: "The club will be making no further comment on this matter." DS? No further comments???
DS doesn't know the meaning of that phrase. The two main names I have seen mentioned are Bilic and Grant. I would be happy with either but my sensible head tells me that Grant is the better option.
