Whoever was in charge of this project should be fired. If they hired a consultant, the need to ask for their money back. The launch of this site was horribly executed.

First, regarding some simple logisitcs: They need to buy MLSoccer.com as well as MLSsoccer.com. They need to be redirecting mlsnet to MLSsoccer. And they need to have one site, at MLSsoccer, that actually works. Also, why in the world did they launch this site at opening kick? Not a good time of year to completely overhaul your web presence.

Regarding the content, they need to do a better job of linking their videos to match reports and team pages. Each team needs to have a page within the MLSsoccer domain to be the launching pad for the content stored there. I understand that each team should have their own, independent site as well, but if you are hosting this type of video content, you need to make it easy to find the content by team.

Anyway, I'm not going to go into the actual content other than the fact that it's not being updated very well. When I can find it, I do like the production and quality of the video though. Whoever is in charge over there needs to get their act together.

100% greed. And what is "silverlight" and can I get it free. I bought the mlsnet pack because it worked fine the last two season. Now it appears I'm screwed.

Yeah MLS net is broken, no scoreboard or in progress information on the whole site, that is pretty 2nd rate.

I wish there were some sort of comment page on the site where I could tell them what a disaster the new design is, but even if there is one I couldn't find anything useful on that lousy, poorly-conceived train wreck. So disappointed with every aspect of the site.

I wish they still kept track of certain stats, such as....box scores. I'd like to know for certain games who got how many yellow cards or red cards, or what the attendance figures were, and stuff like that. Maybe they don't think that's important anymore.

Yes thats the site I am referrring to...there is no way to see any of the games in progress like last year. There is a 'scoreboard' at the top with absolutely no scores...embarassing.

They were probably responding to the widespread criticism that fans saw the scores of the games before they got to watch the highlights, when the highlights was their primary objective. So if you click on the game, I'm pretty sure you can get a recap of the game in progress.

It is disappointing that they haven't worked out all the kinks yet, but please stop overreacting. Different doesn't necessarily mean worse. Isn't this a similar format to the Sounders website? They were pretty pleased with their website. Its just an adjustment period.

I got Silverlight pretty quickly with slow internet and the video quality is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

    Re: mlssoccer.com videos-highlights

Silverlight downloaded in a few minutes even though I'm working with slow internet and then the videos worked fine for me.

    Great quality.

As of right now there are no results/lineups/scores in progress on the whole mlssoccer.com website. I can only imagine its a work in progress.

Klestjan has caught on to the same thing, via his twitter feed:

Yeah, my bad, but obviously that is their intent. They just have to work out all the problems that they're having. Once they do, it should be a pretty good website.

    I call this overreacting:

And the video player gives you a prompt to download Silverlight.

It might give good video in the US and Canada, but apparently I'm in a restricted territory "England" and can no longer watch live games.

This is crap! I guess I'll be looking on P2P sites for live games now and Youtube for highlights.

Hey footy fans! We've assembled a team of design experts to implement our new MLS website! Gone are scores, links to recaps/summaries, box scores, highlights, all that silly rubbish from years past! Who needs it? Hell, we won't even show the dates of the matches on the schedule correctly - that ought to keep you on your toes :p!

And no use overreacting or trying to ask us any questions -that email puppy won't work either hehehehe! (Or it might just be that we don't feel fans are worth answering :).)

Here is the response I got to the mlslive issues. I have no idea why they can't keep the standings, schedule and results updated!

I'm still not pleased I can no longer see live games because I'm outside North America, but having just watched the Chicago/NY highlights, I think the new video player is OK.

How does a supposedly professional sports league have a website that doesn't function on even the most basic levels? This is UFL bad. No box scores, no live scoreboard etc. I'm sure everyone in this thread has already lambasted the idiots in charge, but MLS needs to fire every single person involved with designing the new website.

This is the leagues 15th anniversary. This is a WC year where MLS desperately needs to capitalize on the spike in interest in soccer. This is the year where I have no idea what the scores were to the initial league games through their own website. A retarded two-year-old wouldn't completely screw things up this badly. A high school kid doing a school project could have done a better job.

I agree, the new video player is pretty good and Silverlight downloaded ok for me.

Any idea why ESPN UK isn't showing MLS this year?

The standings page is about as bare-bones as you can get. Wins, losses, draws .. no goals for/against. Ugh.
