Hey everyone - did anyone park in the new parking garage by the Harrison PATH station? I would have parked in the lot on the opposite side of the street by the PATH station, but it seemed to be reserved for Permits & VIP's. did anyone successfully park in the parking garage?
Lot's of people did. It was crazy trying to get out of there though. I was on the 4th level, which was the highest they used, and it took 90 mins to 2 hours to get out of there due to the limited exit routes. I knew it would be like that ahaed of time. The Harrison infrastructure just isn't up to handling that volume of traffic. Good thing I had good company during the wait. Didn't have much coice but to drive this time, but we'll be taking taking the train most of the time.
so what would we suggest is the best solution when driving? parking in newark and taking the path train over?
I parked in one of the lots in Harrison. I was out of Harrison in 10 minutes after getting to my car. The key is walking. Instead of trying to park as close to the stadium as possible, I parked in one of the outer lots and walked past the traffic jam. And you can have my parking space now, since I'm going to be taking the PATH from now on.
As much as I would love to, if I come down for the game it will be from Poughkeepsie and taking Metro+walk to Penn station + Path to Newark + walk to stadium is quite a trip, especially if I do it with my two year old I wonder if there is a combination of private + Public I could do. Will have to research.
That's about the same trip I take from Pawling. It is a long trek - and I imagine it could be even longer w/a 2-year old.
metro to grand central 4 or 5 train downtown to fulton street ..walk 1 block to WTC WTC path train to harrison (or newark if you want to eat first) ..walk to stadium if you take the PATH from 33rd street, it becomes a slightly longer trip i think since the train first goes into hoboken, then into jersey city, and then harrison and newark. the path from the WTC goes from NYC -> jersey city -> harrison -> newark. also theres the issue of not having to walk from grand central to 33rd street.
It seems the best way is to drive to one of the jersey stations and take the train to NYP from there. My 1.5 hour trip took almost 3 hours via mass transit
Do yourself a favor and don't drive there. Getting to the parking from the 1 and 9 was disgraceful with how long it took. It's very frustrating to see the stadium right there and be stuck in your car not moving. I parked in that garage. I had to leave at the half so luckily I drove right out, but I remember saying to myself that it would be at least an hour to get out of there after the game. This Saturday I'm taking the train. You couldn't pay me to drive there again.
did anyone take the Newark Light Rail from Grove St. in Bloomfield? seems like a pretty good solution?
Driving in from Massachusetts...parked in one of the lots last week near the stadium and it took 45 mins just to get out of the parking lot. Was thinking about parking at Newark PENN and taking the PATH the one stop to Mecca...good idea? HELLLLPPPPP!!!!
I am also coming down from Poughkeepsie, and this is exactly the route that we'll be taking... Thanks for the confirmation!
Did anyone park in the large building adjacent to the arena with the large RBNY posters on the front facade? I think it is only accesible from Fran E. Rodgers so the traffic must have been heavy getting in and out.
The further away you park, the quicker it is to drive through the traffic. Of course, it takes longer to walk, but I find walking less frustrating than sitting in traffic.
yes, parked at that garage, but got to area around 1:30. we stayed after game in lot tailgaiting to let the traffic die down, then zipped right home to Pennsylvania...2 hours away!
I actually parked there tonight. No problem getting in. Took a good 25 minutes to get out and on to Frank E. Rodgers though.
I parked there and will again. The attendants were very helpful and friendly. I had no problems with the 20-25 minutes it took to get to 280 after the match. If that's the price I have to pay to experience the game, so be it. I just plan for the extra time in traffic.
Parking and Traffic for the Dallas match With the much smaller crowd, was it easier to drive and park for this one?
Re: Parking and Traffic for the Dallas match Yes, that' one advantage. Looks like I will driving now until/unless we sign Henry or equivalent. 20-minute walk to the car and then virtually no delay.
1st game i went to, I was visiting friends in the city, so i took Path, and would definitly make that the 1st choice if possible. I live in Orange County however, so for most cases i'll have to drive. Unless they drastically improve the local traffic situation with better access to 280, i'll be parking at Secaucus Jct. and taking the train to Newark and walking or Path back a station.
Is there any good parking in the Ferry Street part on Newark and then a quick walk to the stadium? From that area what is it about a 15 minute walk? Id ont want to drive by the stadium, rather park a little further out..any suggestion for the newark Portuguese Brazilian area for parking?
