Got back from the luncheon, very nice as usual. Had CJ Brown and Peter Wilt at my table. I asked CJ if the Fire was going to have a 3 or 4 man backline. He said he wasn't sure as one day they practice with a 3 man backline and another day with a 4.

    Anything else?

Any talk from Frank about the GK stuff?

Is Krol really that slow :) ?

According to the player at our table, no, Krol isn't slow at all. And he's very technical.

He also echoed CJ Brown's comments, posted above, that the team will be playing different formations based upon the opponent, and, based on what's going on in the game.

He also said the team's practices were much more disciplined than in the past. The morning session was strictly for fitness and the afternoon session for tactics.

While away, players had to stay in their rooms to rest. And everyone had to show up for meals on time.

He also said that Collins John should score at least 15 goals this season. :)

As for the Busch incident, this player said Busch called him right after Frank's decision, so he says, it was unexpected as Busch stated.

But then at the Fire Side Chat, Frank heaped all sorts of praise on CdlC, calling him a man of integrity, honest, etc. It was an interesting moment.

Kudos to emcee Jim Rose for asking CdlC about why he chose Dykstra as number one, those CdlC -- even in his limited English -- danced around answering it. But thumbs down to Jim Rose for not showing or mentioning anything about the luncheon on the 6 or 10 p.m. newscasts on Channel 7.

I don't know about everyone else, but apart from the dessert, the food looked real nice, but was very bland. In all, however, I have to say it was a very nice event.

At these luncheons you know you're going to get plain baked chicken so everyone can eat it. You certainly don't come for the food.

The dessert was excellent. I got to sit next to Corben Bone, so during one of the breaks I went over to say hi to my friend Marian (member of the 1979 championship Arka Gdynia team) who was sitting next to Frank Klopas, and Frank jokingly says to me "Tell Corben I said he lost seven balls in practice yesterday", so I went to my table and did as asked, it was a pretty funny moment.

The fireside chat was nice, Cobos was really high on the keepers. After the luncheon I ran into Andrew Hauptman and he was saying that Cobos is looking past the names and salaries, he is looking to start the guys that he think will help him win, period. We know Klopas wants 24 guys fighting for a starting spot on the team, and I think that we may be one of the few teams where that's actually happening.

No, you don't come for the food. But past foundation luncheons had much tastier food. Then again, the Swiss aren't known for their culinary skills.

I forgot that Dave Greeley announced that the Fire would now always play on the anniversary of the Club's birth, I believe the idea was inspired by the party organized to commemorate the event last year. This year the game falls on a Friday and we play the Crew.

    It's a Monday in 2012, Tuesday in 2013, etc.

Does Greeley know what a "super club" is or is he just repeating something he heard on Fox Soccer Channel?

BTW, has anyone attempted to use the coupon in the back of the program to order tickets for opening night and saive "up to 45%"?

The Website asks for a promo code, which isn't given on the coupon. Nor do the sales reps know what it is.
