Just to clarify, I like Khano as a guy. I'd been advocating for his last couple of seasons here that he'd be a great guy to bring in late, with his speed on the wings. But with Nicol saying yesterday that Niouky is going to be playing behind Joseph (to me that means not an attacking player), we've brought in a rookie forward, potentially Perovic and Khano as our attacking options. Take it for what you will.
Joseph did well last year, having a career year in goals and assists. I think this year he'll be more comfortable moving forward, especially if Niouky can handle the pressure of backing him up. I understand what you are saying but it's not as doom and gloom as some here are making it out to be. There's certainly a glimmer of hope. And Twellman really believes he'll be back this year.
Khano, great guy. Khano as a player, here's how I feel: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uWjt2y_G0Q&NR=1"]YouTube- poop[/ame]
Yeah, but, does that make up for the time he's going to hit the empty seat next to me and make someone near me shit their pants?
I'm fine with the Badilla move, but Khano is not an upgrade. We have been there done that and there is nothing to see. The only "how this makes us better" that I can come up with is we might not play an Open Cup game down 2 or 3 players.
I actually like that from Khano for the same reason I wanted a Bruin to hammer Matt Cooke last week. I'd be interested to hear what his teammates thought about that card, if they could talk candidly.
Does anyone think that Khano might be laboring under some delusion that it was a mistake for the Revs to get rid of him in the first place? Or, will he view this as a second chance to prove himself with this team? I fear it's the former. But we shall see.
The Revs didn't get rid of him, they just didn't protect him in an expansion draft. Who could have predicted that Seattle would pick him and his $120,000 salary? Surely, the Revs thought he wouldn't be attractive and could safely leave him unprotected. Khano can't be bitter about that. The team and he have kept up a fine relationship, it seems. Whether Khano comes back more humble from his rejections at Seattle, NYRB, and Lincoln City waits to be seen. I suspect he'll be happy to be paid and fill any role Nicol asks him to.
A big and expensive mistake. Should have pulled his plug a long time ago and would l Love to know just who was responsible for him?
Certainly not Sigi, who wasn't hired until after the expansion draft, and wasted little time shipping him out of Seattle. Khano got an XBox out of the deal though, so it's all good. Has this been officially announced yet? I haven't seen it.
Neither of these surprise me. Khano would have shoved off a while ago if there wasn't a real shot of him coming on board. SN made him earn it- (I have little doubt of this). Frankly, I'm surprise casto wasn't dropped either. cutting badilla is a good move. HE did n't really want to be here from the sound of it. BTW, wasn't badilla's old team willing to spend some $ to buy him back? I hope we didn't let him go for nothing. Say what you want about khano, (he's far from my dream revs player) but he was worth a solid 8 assists a season for us and a good 4 or so goals. we need that with out rally and we haven't gotten Khano goal or assist production out of Mansally or Nyassi yet. so.... if nothing else, like what was mentioned by someone earlier. Khano with fresh legs in the 60th could be a mess for opponent's defenses late in the game.
It would be great if Bilello got up there on the 31st at the STH thing and said...."We're just messin with ya! We've actually signed ____________ to a DP contract!" now that would be an April fools joke!
Uhh...Khano's career highs were 3 goals (2005) and 6 assists (2007). In 2008 he had a Nyassian 2 goals and 3 assists.
