Just got an email from my nephew:

"Went to Matchbox in Eastern Market for lunch today (it's not anything great if you haven't been). I was eating when practically everyone from DCU rolled up (Ben Olsen, Lyle Adams, Mark Simpson, Kevin Payne, etc.). Olsen and I spoke for 5 minutes. Really nice guy. My brush with fame for today. "

I had a smaller-scale version of this yesterday -- talked with Steve Zack for a while about Lot 8.

He is. He comes to a handful of DCU games a year - I call him when I have some extra tickets and he takes the Metro down.

We wouldn't have been able to see any pictures. They kept us in holes in the ground. Deep in the ground. Darkness all around. Luckily the slime trails of worms glow a little when they're fresh.

You should have eaten the worms. Sheesh. Some people just like to complain.

Those worms are even better than gummy worms. A little crunchier and a little more bitter, but that's what makes them unique.

Dang. That sucks. At least Satan would let us look at people eating every now and then.

But I DID eat them. It was tough, but that's how I survived.

To this day I love noodles.

They never worked right though. And it was hard to concentrate with all the wailing.

Not to mention playing pool on a cloth untrue with a twisted cue and elliptical billiard balls

Speaking of which, I heard "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" in a store yesterday. Hadn't heard that in years.

Wade Barrett has been waived by Houston.

    Any interest?

He's from Virginia, went to W&M, has been named to an MLS Best XI, and has been a strong left-back on multiple trophy winners.

He's 33, and clearly on the downside of his career. And I imagine he's got a hefty salary. Those are two sizeable negatives right there.

Dynamo's Barrett retires, becomes assistant coach

don't forget he's also a former DCU player!

EDIT: post removed, trying to be clever re: Barrett but the joke doesn't work any more since he's announced his retirement.

So with the league opener tonight, when does this thread close and the one with our odds of making the playoffs begin?

Haven't you heard? We're going to be the worst team ever and we'll be lucky to win a handful of games.

    Damn, man, keep up!
