When she got out of the car the first thing that came to mind was "Lindsey you're missing the top half of your spacesuit". I couldn't tell what was going on with those pants haha.

The Healthcare Reform Bill that the President just signed. I'm actually quite happy about it. My wife has been working on this issue for over 2 years - it's great to see that something that she put so much passion and time into is finally nearing completion.

Wow, that's a pretty mature statement. You know, you're that close to telling me to go back to Africa. Nice, real nice. I think you should talk to some of the other folks on here who actually live in countries that are socialist and compare what they have to what we have. Not even close. Good job using Glen Beck's talking points though.

It sickens me to see the rabid hate thrown at the POTUS & others over simply trying to help people.

I just wanted to say some more on this socialism charge. I'm a progressive, liberal, whatever term you want to use. I've been involved in politics and policy for a long, long time. The crux of the matter is that progressive efforts to expand the size of the welfare state are basically done. There are big items still on the progressive agenda. But they don’t really involve substantial new expenditures. Instead, you’re looking at carbon pricing, financial regulatory reform, and immigration reform as the medium-term agenda. Most broadly, questions about how to boost growth, how to deliver public services effectively, and about the appropriate balance of social investment between children and the elderly will take center stage. This will probably lead to some realigning of political coalitions. It will not lead to socialism.

    ENTITLEMENT!!!
basically the hard workers are going to get raped with taxes. democracy fails once people realize they can vote themselves money. the Senator was elected on lies and deception. F*** mickey mouse should have beat any Republican because of the terrible job W did. As much as i hated W i really really really want him back.

R&W: no government company here has ever run a profit. now the government is on it's way to controlling 1/6th the total economy. it's vastly unpopular, 60% plus are against it, and shoved up our arses by Liberals. it mandates people to have healthcare which is unconstitutional (but Liberals hate the Constitution, so moot point). i can go on. it does have some good pieces but the cons are more destructive than we can ever believe. our country is a center right country and is now taking steps to the far left. many many many americans are pissed off. this is the same sort or government actions that caused americans to take arms and fight the british. Obamas poll rates have gone from an all time high around 70% to the low 40s. he is showing just how ill prepared he is for the position. I hate the man with a passion. you just have a lot of ignorant people who can't see past his celebrity persona.

    pot, meet kettle.

i must agree with you there. it's more fascism.

all i have to say is Jan 20th, 2013 can't be soon enough. hopefully sooner.

And whose talking points would I be using? You seem to love to throw labels about without knowing what they mean. Fascism? Really? What about the current situation makes it in any way fascist? Let's see - there's been no suppression of the press or opposite viewpoints. In fact, that's all you see/hear in the media. The HCB was passed by the legislature, not done by the decree of one person. Does the military have excessive influence on domestic policy? Um, no.

Why don't you go back to your classroom and come back with your smack talk after you've lived in the real world for awhile.

60% against it? What polls are you reading? And you're right, we liberals hate the Constitution (said with sarcastic eye roll). Unconstitutional? We're already required by law to buy the commodities we might simply call "retirement insurance" and "medical insurance." You can't opt out of either program and you can't delay the payments--which we may as well think of as "premiums"--until April 15 each year. (I suppose you can opt out of taking the benefits later.) Moreover, you only see in your paycheck the true impacts of half your premiums, because the other half is hidden by being "contributed" by your employer--although this also ought to be considered lost income and thus a mandatory direct tax because employers account for this tax obligation when setting salaries or wages. Although there's no payroll deduction for unemployment insurance, employers also must consider these "premiums" when setting those wages and salaries, so let's classify that a mandatory but indirect tax.

As for mandatory, although there is some debate about whether the insurance mandate will actually be enforced--and strong evidence that it won't be because there are no criminal penalties for people who fail to buy insurance--it is clearly less mandatory given that it requires citizens to actively go out and buy it instead of having it taxed automatically from their paychecks.

The newly legislated insurance tax is at least as indirect as unemployment insurance, more indirect than either Social Security or Medicare taxes, and less mandatory than any of the three. And yet it will be challenged as unconstitutional on mandatory direct tax grounds? Whatever, dude.

You're like a little kid who didn't get the toy they wanted at the store. You hope stomping and screaming at the top of your lungs will get you what you want. It won't. When the 2000 election was decided by the Supreme Court, we were told to get over. Well, we did. We organized, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We didn't yell and scream, threaten those that disagreed with us with violence, call our opponents traitors, etc.

    To quote a friend: "
Tax credits for small business, drug help for seniors, no denial of coverage for pre-exiting conditions or kids, you can't be dropped if sick, coverage under parental insurance until 26, options for people that do not have coverage, and no effect on people that are already covered...There is so much evil in there I don...'t know where to start. God forbid we pass a law that actually helps people."

And with that, I'm out. I've been a member of this board for a long, long time. I come here to escape work and the outside world, but now it seems even here the craziness has seeped in. Anytime someone tells me to leave the country I love, accuses me of trying to destroy my country (yes, my country), etc., well - that's just too much. I deal with that stuff on a daily basis in my professional life - don't need it here.

    Take care folks,

Mate, just ignore the political convo's when they come up, and stick with the boot threads. Maybe I've grown to be more thick-skinned in my situation, in my country, in its political situation, but you just can't let small things like that bother you.

True, true. By the way, I may be spending Christmas in Durban this year. My cousin moved to RSA a long, long time ago and I'm finally thinking of visiting. My sister has already booked her flight - I've gotta check with the Mrs, as we're going to Ireland this summer to visit her family.

You've obviously been to England. Doctors here are a joke. I've been to see mine once in the last 10 years and that was to get him to release my documents for me to join the Armed Forces. When I'm ill I don't bother going to see him, cos to be fair I've got enough common sense to do what needs to be done and if it's serious, he'll only refer you to a drop in centre or the Hosp anyway so may as well cut out the middle man.

You clearly do not understand what you are talking about, the use of logical fallacy is the basis of your statement which totally nullifies your statement and point (or lack there of)

Clearly you don't know what you are talking about and you are bordering on a racial statement. You are entitled to your own opinion, not matter how misinformed, ignorant or illogical it is....You by the rules of BigSoccer are not entitled to to make racial comments which the whole "go back to Kenya" comment is about. If you make another comment expect a red card and a push for a lifetime ban on your IP address from me. I am the mod of this forum, and while I support your ability to say something I don't agree with, I will not support racist behavior.

Addressing what you said;no one in Kenya wants their socialist back. Obama is American born, and I will use my favorite quote from Bill Maher about the issue "When the Tea Party or the GOP can produce Sarah Palin's High School Diploma, then the Democrats will produce Obama's birth certificate."

You never lost your country, and from your comments I can see that you clearly don't even understand your country, it's Constitution, it's laws, or it's legislative process. You are ignorant of issues and misinformed of the current bill and what it actually offers. Your statements make that very clear. You should ask yourself why you claim to love America and want it back, but then clearly hate Americans, their rights, freedoms and our legislative process.

More proof that you don't know what you are talking about. Your doctor can still see you, and if won't take any longer than usual because this bill isn't taking over healthcare like it did in England, Dr's. are free to keep practicing as usual. You would know this if you checked your facts.

That said, I welcome anyone to prove the following facts wrong, or refute my opinion or anyone else's. I will warn you though that any hate speech, ad hominem attacks (look it up), or verbal abuse is not welcome and will result in cards and bans.
