Yes, he is a smart player, that is very vocal. I am sure he must know a good amount of english, given his years in spain. Eveyrone in europe for the most part knows good amounts of english.

Pena is taht veteran that (I forget his name) the former US men NT defender we got in 07 to strengthen the middle was supposed to be. Someone help me out here lol.

He can distribute out the back well, he has great control over the ball as he started off his career as a def midfielder, but was soon converted into a defender. He has a 'calming' presence in the back, because he has done it for so long, and was the leader of our backline (for bolivia) for a while during the dark years without etcehverry and Moreno. He has played against the best in the world, so he can guage the best players he goes up against. Hes been away for a year, but I am sure he can handle playing in the MLS.

Bottom line, if we can get him for a good price, he can play maybe a good 2 years with us more. He is like Maldini for bolivia, in that he can probably keep playing deep into his 30s... maybe 40s after DC in bolivia lol.

*raises hand* Yep that was me lol. I just hope Jaime can show he can still last longer on the field then 60-70. As long as guys like Castillo and Wallace can cover his butt when he needs someone to cover for him when he is resting up top, I think we can be ok.

I am really happy with Castillo, frmo the limited stuff he has done for us, and that crappy video I saw vs. Santos Laguna. I cant wait to see more of him, and Wallace at LB.

I still feel we need a good midfielder to bring on by to solidify us even more.

I'm not trying to pick on you, but I got a good laugh that a Bolivian player would brush up their English in Spain. As a monoglot, it gave me a chuckle.

Hey you'd be surprised in europe! I encountered tons of foreigners when i was vacationing in Greece this past summer, I met italians, people from spain, French tourists, others from eastern european countries, not to mention tons of greeks, all of their english was very very good (the italians were pricks though, same goes with French chicks.... bitches) . You often see many pro players in spain too that can communicate in english with the press.

Im sure Pena knows enough to get by as far as being in the backline goes.

Saturday was actually the first time I've actually been able to see DC United live, so there were a lot of things that stood out to me.

This team speaks to each other in Spanish for the most part. Listening to McTavish yell instructions at Tino and Najar in Spanish in the second half was interesting. Then Pena giving Wallace an earful at one point.

    All in Spanish.

Troy had no problem yelling at everyone in English though. They understood him. Clearly. He was forceful. lol :p

    No problem. :)

Pena was very vocal in that first half. He was rarely quiet. For the most part everyone understood where he was directing them. Plus, he's a fantastic tackler.

"Monoglot" sounds like one of those fearsome animals Hagrid attempts to tame in the Harry Potter books. At least it has only one mouth, which is a relief.

According to Ives Galarcep, Danny Szetela was just waived by United

That's a bit of a stunner, if true...

Anyone know who the starting 11 will be in tonight's game? I know the coach mentioned that he'll be playing mostly reserves.

I'm going to guess something like this:

    -------------------------Hamid-------------------------------
    Adams---------James---------Rice--------------Woolard
    ---------------Diraimondo---------Simms------------------
    Shipalane-----------------------------------------Khumalo
    ----------------Cristman--------Yates----------------------

    Just a guess though.

So, they win tonight, then the league goes on strike for the entire year. Does that make DCUnited Supporters' Shield Victors?

Thanks. I knew when the first game started. Wasn't so sure about how long a break they'd take between games.
