The problem is that the other English teams would outbid us. I know Mancini is very interested in him. Chelsea were interested at one point as well. Who wouldn't be? He's another player that, once he puts everything together, will be unstoppable. His talent is obvious, and he's still so young.
Our only chance would be him wanting to play for Wenger. He's work with young players is world renowned. Mario surely knows that.
It's funny how Jose takes credit for all the success at Chelsea. Ranieri had built half of the team for him already... The way he keeps talking about their "lack" of success just shows me how bitter he is about being canned.
I think they'll try to open an investigation, if possible, so pacify Manchester United but eventually will let Garrard off in a couple of weeks when everyone has forgotten about it. I think that's right. Do we know whether it was written in the ref's match report? I have heard that the ref called a foul, but that doesn't mean that he saw Gerrard try to hit the other player. It's a bit of a paradox that on one hand we say that the media is trying to bring down the English national team before the World Cup then on the other hand recognize that they routinely turn a blind eye to the conduct of their English stars.
If anyone can do it, its the boss certainly. I just think there are better or similar players with less liability out there who would cost about the same. We'd have to drop alot of coin for him, so I'd rather just get the most value for our money. Its amazing the season is almost over. Even if we go all the way to the CL Final thats still only an extra 3 games. Thank god its WC year.
I didn't realize that a foul had been called until seeing posts saying so here. But then, I just had the match on in the background while working out so I wasn't paying close attention until they showed the replays. Us saying it (or observing it), isn't a paradox.....the fact that the English media actually does this is the paradox. But heck....a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, or so my uncle Ralph says.
Exactly. We are talking about a 'media' that bugs Alex Ferguson's phone, then advertises bets on games LOL It's also worth mentioning some of the mainstream D) commercial aspects. The Liverpool version of Gerrard is effectively owned by BSKYB, and as such is a reality TV character to be tooled about as they like. The England team is not owned by them. And as such is fair game to be screwed over at some other broadcaster's (that means you the BBC!) expense.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6030741,00.html Looks like Gerrard will get off. "But Attwell did see the incident and spoke with Gerrard, so as such the FA cannot take any action against him." So the referee saw Gerrard punch another player in the back of the head and decided it was only worth a talking to?
Well, look how Sky Sports is portraying it. They've actually got a picture of Brown challenging Gerrard from behind instead of the Gerrard elbow to Brown's head. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6030741,00.html For those who have not seen it, it's here: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtksxQSNmYU"]YouTube- Steven Gerrard elbows Michael Brown[/ame]
If i were one of Browns teammates, id have clattered him immediately after. Its totally worth the red
It kind of reminds me of when Todd Bertuzzi sucker punched Steve Moore from behind. The result isn't as bad but the intent is there. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz9RE9RGrVY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz9RE9RGrVY[/ame]
Hey, remember when you won non-arsenal poster of the year? That was before you started doing American sports analogies...
Can't you guys tell that he was just running really hard and Brown ran into his arm? I mean I thought that was obvious!
