This makes me exceedingly happy. It's almost enough to keep me from canceling DirecTV after the World Cup.
Lots of CT carriers have one or two less channels devoted to sports because they straddle NY/MA. So they might carry CSN and MSG on the same stream (true for me) and typically MSG wins if the Knicks and Revs were at the same time. We get SNY in my town 100% of the time, but perhaps elsewhere CSN and SNY share??
CSNE carries Mets games as well. There were times in the past when a Revs gave was scheduled to be on CSNE and was bumped by the Mets. Someone needs to tell them NY is not in NE
I think the FCC just issued a rule this week that prevents owners of channels who are also owners of distribution outlets from preventing other distributors from carrying their channels (presumably they have to offer some sort of reasonable licensing terms, but they can't just lock up their stations anymore). So you should be able to get CSN pretty much anywhere in the market through whatever cable companies are left.
Yeah, except I've held out until now. The truth is, I just don't watch much TV, but the Revs are one of the few things I do (did) watch. So anyway, I'm wavering. Somebody here needs to tell me the absolute cheapest way to get CSN. I live in the, ahem... future home of the Revs' soccer-specific stadium.

Or you could go to the awesome viewing parties being scheduled. Save the money you were going to spend on cable and hop the red line to spend it at the banshee.
Spend 40 bucks on the new MLS website that will have the out of market games streaming in HD. Because of blackouts, key might be where you live, but this would be cheaper annually than cable and the new features sound pretty great. http://footiebusiness.com/2010/03/16/mls-website-changes-to-be-announced/
You'll also have the ability to watch 3 games at once (a picture in picture type of option). I'll probably shell out the $40.
Cable is a huge waste of money. World Cup can be found for free on Univision. And that includes better coverage. Other major sports? My internet service includes access to ESPN360.com.
I personally think Univison's coverage sucks! On other major sports I can not get Red Sox/Bruins games on ESPN 360. So to me cable is not a waste of money.
So motivate yourself to learn America's second language, Spanish this summer. It will benefit you beyond just being a soccer fan. Another reason, Andres Cantor has the best call in sports that needs no translation: GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL [followed by lots of words that end in vowels spoken at a fast rate]
My favorite Spanish call... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIt0KlzrinY#t=0m48s"]YouTube- 05/03/2009 Houston Dynamo at New England Revolution[/ame] 0:48 in OOPS GOOOOOLLLLLL!!!!
If you think english coverage of soccer matches is worth $50 a month, then so be it. As for me, the broadcast can be in swahili and it's still painfully obvious what's being said. Also, OTA HD is ALWAYS better quality than the same HD channel on cable. Cable companies compress all the signals to cram as much in as possible.
