I did not call it a failed business, I said many people find it hard to see how it can succeed.

Maybe people will always complain, but there was not enough content on Setanta before to justify the pricing model, so they are going to have to find a way to put more content on for less cost.

What Setanta failed to do and what FSP should do is focus on programming for primetime since they already have most mornings and daytimes covered. That would mean likely original shows or CONCACAF/CONMEBOL leagues or tournaments. For some it will justify the cost more and for others that cost never will be justified. I currently pay for it but their could be more content. More live games would be welcome. Whether is is European or Americas.

At minimum they have to go back to getting the best EPL match, and add in the best Serie A and Champions league matches.

Fox Soccer Plus has less content which means less money pent on rights. Obviously, FOX figured that they might be able to pull in somewhere close to even if they do not buy the rights to a bunch of leagues.

thank you. they spend less than Setanta spent and hope not to lose many subs. and if it doesn't work, they have the deep pockets to change strategies in August.

They have 3HD streams out in areas now. I'm actually in one of those areas, however, I'm still not impressed with their PQ

$14.99 per month if you have the regular packages.

$9.99 per month if you have Dish Latino or International packages.

In my case, most of the channels I watch are in all packages, except for soccer channels.

So, I subscribe to "Dish Latino Max" which includes Fox Soccer Channel and all the basic English language channels (like CNN and ESPN), as well as Spanish soccer channels like ESPN Deportes (La Liga) and Fox Sports En Espanol, and your local channels. For $10 more, you can add Dish's HD, which gives you the HD equivalent of any SD channel you get, so it includes FSC-HD, and CNN, ESPN, ESPN2 and TNT in HD amongst many others.

The total is $53 plus $10 for HD plus $10 for Setanta plus $6 DVR fee = $79 which covers one HD-DVR (extra fees apply for extra receivers).

Dish Latino Max is a good deal but no Gol TV, NFL Network or NBA TV is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

    Yep.
With FSC and FSC+ subscriber should be able to see all EPL top 4 teams playing (Chelsea/ManU/Arsenal/Liverpool), Barca, Real from Spain and Inter/AC/Juventus from Italy.
GoalTV covers a lot of German and Spanish Laliga as well.

I am not really sure what he was saying either.

A news release from Fox Soccer:

Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports Net (FSN) and Fox Soccer Plus will feature blanket coverage of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg, with eight live and exclusive English-language match telecasts in high-definition from March 9 through 17.

Now we need to have FIOS (my provider), and others to step up and add FSC HD NOW!

Looks like things have gone cold with FiOS. I worry this won't happen until next season. I need my HD.

so, do we have confirmation somewhere that directv will begin broadcasting FSCHD when their new satellite becomes operational? and, any word when that will be? (i'm less interested in paying for FS+, or whatever it's called, in SD or HD if it's a premium channel.)

as for comcast, are they planning anything?

    To quote the Directv twitter,

"It will not be in HD yet, but we expect it when our newest satellite is deployed."

    Be cautiously optimistic.

thanks, yeah, i saw that. i had thought they were referring only to the "+" channel, but now that i re-read, it looks like they are talking about plain ol' FSC in HD too.

still, i'd like some info from comcast. with my iffy line of sight, i'd say i'm 50/50 at best on the satellites.

I think the opener, as well as other games, will be in 3-D as well.

I'll settle for FSC in HD on my cable system.

They're newer fancier crappy 3D glasses - I suppose they're now more durable and less of an eyesore. I saw one of those new animated 3D movies last summer.
