Sounds more like a test of interest, I would be surprised if any commitments were made before he was further along in his rehab.

This has been kicking about since shortly after we secured Carlos.I think it has serious legs, the question is does Morales still have legs after his foot surgery.Hopefully he does, because he would be a phenomenal pick up.

It would be great to have him IF he can get to the form of 2-3 years ago. If he doesn't ask for DP money, do it! If he asks for DP money, i'd take my sweet time thinking about it.

Where would he play? Does he take Pappa's spot? Does he play leftback and displace Krol? I don't see him as good fit with our current roster.

Left wing and Pappa goes to the middle as suggested in the Goal.com story? Thor on the bench with Mapp. Good depth again.

It would be one or the other on the bench. Not both:

    ------------------ Busch ------------------

    -- Ward ---- Brown ----- Conde ---- Krol --

    ------------------ Pause ------------------

    -- Martinez --- Thor --- Pappa --- Morales --

    ------------------ McBride -----------------

Unless you're thinking that John pairs with McBride up top, which would then push Thor out of the line-up.

I think I'd rather play with just 1 forward than leave Thorrington on the bench, but maybe that's just me.

That can also be a variation. He could take a floater roll similar to Blanco.

Guys if John signs with us he is starting. There is no question about it he is our best striker. If we sign Morales we will switch to the 3-5-2. With Ward, Conde, and Krol, in the back with Pause and Thor has holding mids Pappa and Julio on the wings with Morales in the middle with John and Mcbride up top.

35 year old Morales over Mapp? I know most of you think it is a gimme, but I was hoping to see if Mapp could take the next step under CDLC. I would rather not bother with a 35 year old in our midfield unless his name is Blanco.

That lineup sounds like it would kill every team in this league.

Morales has played some left back and left wingback. If healthy, he would provide excellent depth. I like the addition, again- if he is healthy.

It'd need some more production out of McBride, and we're not sure how John will do so far. I'm still iffy on a 3-5-2. Can Pappa and Martinez handle that responsibility? Certainly looks promising though. I'd love to see Blanco in a 3-5-2.

    Fixed.

He was a great player for us, but it's time to move on.

A Morales signing may actually serve to motivate Justin further, if he is indeed responding positively to CLDC as reported.

Maybe this is why CdlC was playing Krol at left midfield some in pre-season AND Krol said he liked playing there. So, then we would have two players who can play either spot, Pappa who can play left or central and Mapp coming off the bench.

Maybe, but I hope the reason behind signing Morales is because the guy can still play and not to merely pander. Smells like a Javier Leon deal.

Morales is too old at 35.

But Mapp has the heart of an 80 yr old

God, I hope not as well. First of all, if you are trying to pander to all of the Blanco/CA fans you have brought in, I don't think you do it by signing a Chivas guy. :D

I know I'm wrong, but please tell me we're beyond pandering to anyone but Chicago soccer fans.

Why? We're the only team that has actually done it successfully, and we've done so twice now. While I agree that I never want to see us get a player to pander alone, if we can get another Blanco or Nowak who can produce at an elite level while pandering, then I'm all for it.

Don't forget Kubik and Klopas, because you know we pandered to all those Czechs and Greeks here...

Your not beyond pandering when you haven't sold out many games without it. Asidefeom the Becks and conference title games how many sell outs did we have pre Cuah?

If we can pander AND be good I'm all for it. If we r pandering just to pander then we should just field the 1986 Mex natl team
