Re: Luis Gil to RSL? Findley (solid for MLS) -- only part time until July? Then Euro-bound in Fall? Could be if he could actually control the ball, which he is getting better. Espindola (solid for MLS) -- coming off joint surgery, & Red card bait Are you sure you are not thinking Clint Mathis? Abe Thompson (project) -- picked up at a front yard tag sale. Seems to have a history of being a late game thorn in RSL's side, hopefully can do the same against other teams. Alex Nimo (project) -- not even a USL/NASL starter Who? Pablo Campos (mixed bag... unknown quality) -- mixed=understatement More assists than Yura Movsisyan last year.
Re: Luis Gil to RSL? I swear in one your posts I read the other day you said something about being "generally contented" as a person... If I gave you a suitcase full of cash, you'd complain about how heavy it is to carry!
Re: Luis Gil to RSL? This is taking boring. (What my youngest used to say on road trips back when he was two years old...)
Re: Luis Gil to RSL? LG Does not have a Brother that ever tried out anywhere, everyone needs to drop this topic. RSL was best destination from all interested teams, playing time, amount of games on schedule, coaching staff, Players currently there (Central Mids) Transfer money is good for RSL if he does go to Europe. Has clause that he can only go to Real Madrid or Arsenal on any loan deals at 18, option to buy, sort of like Jozy Altidore. Only time will tell, let's hope that he works hard and stays focused. Freddy Adu and Nick Besagno are not successful because of the lack of support from their team at the time they were in MLS.
Re: Luis Gil to RSL? I disagree with this comment. This may have had something to do with it, but you also have to look at the individual player. Besagno simply was disinterested in putting in the effort, and always looked like he was loafing around in training sessions. Adu thought he was above all of it, at least during his last season here.
Re: Luis Gil to RSL? how about this: I dont care WHY he picked here, but I am glad he did. LUIS GIL @ RSL IS GOOD!
Re: Luis Gil to RSL? bump anybody know how this kids first week at camp went? Would be interested to see what some of the players think of him and what he thinks of the squad now that he is "settling in" more
Re: Luis Gil to RSL? Will Johnson did an interview with Bill & Spence on KALL 700 last week, and he said Luis hadn't shown up to camp yet. He didn't say what the holdup was, only that he hadn't reported to camp yet.
Re: Luis Gil to RSL? I think I read somewhere that he was meeting up with the team after the AZ trip. First practice is today so I think that today is the day. Not 100% though.
Luis Gil will play the rest of the season for AC St. Louis. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=luis+gil+ac+st.+louis&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
Interesting. I guess we decided he couldn't contribute even with the ridiculous slate of games facing us - I thought he'd be playing as a reserve in most games.
Great news. I assumed from the minimal amount of playing time that he got in the USOC qualifiers and friendlies that he is not quite at the same level as the rest of the team and would probably be the odd man out (as well as possibly Schuler and Melia) during this busy stretch. IIRC, the team said that he would need at least another year or so to be ready to contribute in some role, and if he is just sitting on the bench, that won't help his development. Now he gets a chance to compete in up to 9 matches with AC St. Louis in the USSF D2 Pro League. Edit: Looks like he will team up with Schuler - didn't realize he was also on loan. He is also going to play with ex-RSL'er "Lazer" Luke Kreamalmeyer who started as a rookie in RSL's inaugural match (boy, did we suck then!)
