Nah, this was before the 2nd half even started. But yes they also said that during a different sequence.

Which is why he made it a one touch pass? Haven't seen the play but it sounds like the defense was trying to stay compact and then got stretched by the ball to Valencia. Thats probably the way Steve Clarke wants them to play defense, they have two very good headers of the ball in the center of the defense. They're probably willing to give up some crosses to avoid defense splitting off the ball runs in the box.

BTW the live text indicates that Faubert has produced a number of crosses into the box, so Patrice Evra must be sh*t.

It's actually just through the Setanta website. It is legal and supposedly $10-15(don't remember) but for whatever reason they charged me $0 at checkout. Maybe first month free or something. Great quality though.

Spector definitely beaten by Valencia that time. Another great goal though. Some weak marking on Rooney as well.

Spector is getting toasted by Valencia. Many LBs get toasted by him but that 2nd goal is pretty much on Spector. The CB combo probably could have done a little better covering the guy with 20+ league goals but it all started on the flank.

Spector makes up a little bit for the last goal by making a great run back to make a last second challenge on Berbatov, who would have been clean through on goal.

It was a one touch pass because Rooney was making a streaking run to the backpost. Why would Valencia try to bring that down to slow the play down, thus allowing Spector to catch up....

Well to be fair, while we're focusing on Spector, the entire backline is facing unceasing wave after wave of Manchester United attacks, and the entire backline is getting burned repeatedly.

I thought that was pretty crappy by Man U to not play the ball out. Congrats to Owen for getting a goal after the RB went down. Douche.

The post I responded to indicated Valencia had a lot of time to weight the pass. The point I was making is that he didn't need the time. He made it a one touch pass and still weighted it perfectly.

Man, there's no way you can blame Specs on the first goal. It was clear that he was assigned Rooney until the wee sprite went out of his zone. Man U found the gap in the defense and exploited it.

Agree. He covered the middle when he had to and shifted at the appropriate time. On the second, yes he was beat, but how do these CB's let Rooney drift off them like that--total ball watching. Both headers he didn't even have to leave his feet.
