I hope CDLC puts out our 1st team, and I hope they put out there first team. I want to see how we stack up to them. They have an advantage because there 7 games into there season and were just in our 3rd week of preseason.

This is gonna be a big test if the real goats put out their main squad. The goats are undefeated (7 games in a row) in the Mexican League. I know it's only the preseason and our team hasn't meshed yet but this will be a huge test.

Make that 7 wins in 7 games (although the 7th one should have been a tie save for a bad offside call.)

And because it's the hottest start in Clausura history, I would imagine they wouldn't risk messing with that mojo and we would see an entirely reserve team.

No Collins John, McBride looks lonely in this lineup.

And we are playing long-ball to McBride:

41st - GOAL FIRE McBride (Conde)...Conde out of the back to McBride at edge of Defense...GK caught in no-mans-land, McBride chips for goal.

    90+ GOAL -- CHIVAS...struck low to Johnson's right from 25 out

    2nd half subs:
    68'' Nyarko for Husidic
    73'' Yates for Cuesta
    83'' Dimitrov for Woodbine

    Side note:

How is it that FirePR doesnt know the name of their own player? Aren't they wearing numbers? Isn't there a piece of paper somewhere that indicates which numbers correspond to which players? No need to pull a JP Dellacamera.

Yeah, the only disappointment for me is that McBride and John didn't start together up top. I'm getting a little concerned that we are going to see a single forward lineup at the start of the season.

    Big time.

Hard to understand how you pick up a guy who has had the most success of his career paired with BMB and then never play them together.

Sr. De Los Cobos, here's what you do up top:
Start McBride and John together, then in the 60th minute or so, bring in Nyarko and watch him burn up their tired legs.

They have been playing the 3-5-2 in practice, expect to see that formation at some point.

According to this article from today, Aarón Padilla is training with the Fire in Mexico-translation from this thread
    FUEGOFAN's translation
Since Padilla is a forward maybe they played 2 up top in the second half. That is, if he played in today's game as the unknown trialist..hmmI wonder if he played with a bag over his head :p

it is possible that de los Cobos knows what he has as forwards, it's working out which midfield pairing will start.

Martinez, Thorington, Pappa, Banner, Pause, Mapp, Husidic, & Bone... there are others, but these seem to be the biggest possibilities. Cobos needs to work out which player work best and which fit his playing style. You have Nyarko, BMB & John as major competitors for the front spots, no real struggle there.

Just my 2 cents. I could be WAY off and we could be playing a solo forward up top...

I hope you're right. And if we've been training 3-5-2 maybe 4-1-4-1 is just to look at as many defenders and midfielders as possible.

However, did you see what formation El Salvador fielded against the US? (4-1-4-1 with Rudis Corrales up top)

Anyone know why Martinez did not get called up for that game BTW? It seems that the right side of El Salvadors midfield was the weakest link throughout the game and they really missed him.

New thought. Maybe we're trying out different formations because we actually plan on employing them throughout the season. I remember when DC kind of shocked us by playing a 3-5-2 when we played them. Being able to get the right formation and tactics against different teams would be strategically beneficial as well as add the element of surprise, assuming our players can jive with it.

Chivas did not release their lineup for the match, but Klopas told me that the Mexican side featured five players who typically make the game day roster and six reserves trying to work their way into the team.

Here is the link to the Chivas website for their game recap:

Yeah, it's in Spanish, but there are ways of figuring out what it says. If I have time to post a translation later, I will.
