Howlong has he been with the team? I would compare him to maybe Gomez of DCU.
It's not like he was with the team from the beginning like Moreno or something.
We are talking about major transition and leap in the history of the team. We are talking Henry, Raul, Ronladinho although I know it's just a rumor not likely to happen.

It's not a shame that he won't be in New York, but Raul's a player that would be nice to watch in MLS. Maybe Chicago would be a good fit.

And?? Does it matter how long he has been here? Isn't it more important that he has worked his ass off? He's the captain and the heart of this team. I'm sorry but you just can't replace that.

Plus if the people you mention come here just for a retirement check, we would lose someone who actually wants to win.

I value loyalty especially after what JPA has done.

They could easily be talking to Raul............it makes a ton of sense. But there a lot of options.

They have an open DP slot don't they? The one they got for Amado Guevara?

Doesn't that revert back to Chivas USA at some point (i.e. it was traded to RBNY for a limited number of years)? For some reason, I thought RBNY loses that spot either before 2010 or before 2011.

The trade was for 5 years, so after 2011 I believe.

Really? For some reason I was thinking that the initial "DP experiment" was only officially slated to last for three years, so all trades were structured to end after the 2009 season.

With the exception of Angel, where doesn't NY need help?

That was the odd thing about the trade. The DP experiment was scheduled to be reviewed after 3 seasons, but Chivas traded their slot for 5.

Because they aren't signing Raul. You don't have to pay a transfer fee for players you don't sign.

I think Raul is making something like €8M net at Real.

IMO, this would be a colossal waste of money, if signed to a similar deal.
