Well he wasn't my first choice when it origionally came Capello picking the new captain.

Even though I have the view that their should be a captain with a clearer history then the other player, I still think that we should take the italian view that the captain is just the most capped player, it isn't as important as it used to be as all the england players are now massive role models and all as important as each other.

That's correct. They weren't married, but I wasn't aware she wasn't still with Wayne Bridge.

I can't believe no one mentioned the fact that he has just been charged with violent conduct as well. Not to mention the fact the he is injured, and is total crap.

Gerrard is easily the most inspirational player in the squad and has captained his club for around 5 years now.

And I'm not just saying this because I am a Liverpool fan.

I'm not even sure (and this is the weird part) that she was even with Bridge when the affair started.

She definitely isn't with him now, though I believe they have a kid together.

Like I said earlier...he missed a drugs test, he didn't fail it. You might want to do a little research and you are also going on about it was Bridge's former girlfriend and not mentioning that Terry is MARRIED. All conduct un-becoming of a captain of England which is still a position of honor as regarded by most of the English public.

I would think that you, of all people here would understand that it is an honor and privilege to represent one's country. If you want to be a leader of men and have the respect of your peers then act like you are deserving of it. She may just be a little whore but she doesn't represent England to the whole world.

And if that isn't enough well then there is the old adage my father shared with me 30+ years ago when he said, "Son, just remember, don't shit where you eat."

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this woman the mother of Bridge's child? That would make it quite the big deal.

Terry made this all the worse for himself by not resigning.

He missed the test for whatever reason, apparently he took an independant one the same day and passed it, but not an official one. He cheated on his wife with a former girlfriend of a friend and England teammate who is the mother of his child...conduct unbecoming the England Captain and he should have known better.

Yes because juries are never wrong, influenced by a defendants celebrity status or ever make a mistake!?! There is a video footage of Gerrard and his friends assaulting a man. The fact that he was acquited does not make him innocent seeing as his two friends pleaded guilty to assault. It is fairly evident that the only reason Gerrard walk away with even a slap on the wrist is because he is Steven Gerrard of Liverpool.

My point was that almost every senior English player has been at some point been involved in controversy. Lampard supposedly cheated on his women, Ferdinand was banned for skipping a doping test in order to do a interview for Manchester United's TV channel, Rooney is a hot head and has also been unfaithful on his women. It was never my intention to single out Gerrard but he DID assault man.

Let me rephrase.. the fact that he was found innocent of the crimes he was accused of committing does not mean that he actually did not commit them.

If that was the case, then I suppose O.J. Simpson did not commit the crime he was accused of either then?

I seem to recall him being found "not guilty"......which probably meant he was innocent...(according to the clowns on the jury)

Yes thats true, but they don't shag wives, ex-girlfriends and mothers of team mates kids. That f's up the locker room.

I suspect Ferdinand will just be a sock puppet wearing the band. Terry will continue to lead the team, just not officially. Nothing changes the fact that he's the strongest leader in there.
