Pregame news: Hoddle was taken from Southampton contraversly last season, as well as Dean Richards (a definate underrated signing). But with Hoddle, came assistant John Gorman, a Scottsman. Last season he had words (at minimum) with Southampton's Scottish manager Gordan Strachen. This could be interesting... Spurs tidbits: Unless you lost the ability to read, or you internet went down, you know that Spurs have signed Robbie Keane for 7mil British Pounds (reported by everyone!) for a reported 25,000 BP/week. Leeds website say it has happened, but Spurs website has nothing yet (as of Friday). Of course, the latest is the he must pass the physical, which should be no problem. Leonhardsen signed for Villa on a free. Jamie Redknapp is happy to be back... Sprus preview of Southampton. And here are a couple of nice bits about KK post Charlton match from Spurs website: 1 and 2. Here is Spurs injury news Saints stuff (couldn't find much...they're Southampton ): Southampton get into the act on Frantic Friday by signing former ManUre player Kanchelskis. "Cover" for England International Wayne Bridge has arrived. In the injury front, importantly,Delgado is still out. Southampton's injury news. Take a look at the last line. Bit self reassurance, methinks.
Keane won't play tomorrow, won't have clearance with the English FA... So it's another weekend of Sheringham and Iversen/Ferdy...
Saw that - that's the bit at the bottom of the end of the Southampton injury report. LOL that it is reported by the Saints. btw - I have to work tomorrow. no go for the pbp for me. hope somebody else will help you out (though the Sunderland announcer seems to be gaining a fan club here ).
If I'm up I'll be listening to Sunderland's PbP via the web (if it's availabe and working). Listening to the end of the match the other day was awesome, and a great diversion at work!
Sunderland's webcast is probably the best that I've heard this year, besides the BBC. Someone should start a "this is the best EPL webcast" thread.
Keller makes OPTA's "Team of the Week" Friedel last week, Keller this week: http://www.planetfootball.com/optamizer/totw.asp?PID=2&CPID=8
Come on Spurs!!! Now that they've added Keane to Keller, is there any stopping Spurs? Lets go Americans, support your yanks abroad.
Here are the match previews (a quickie from work) BBC's, about half way down. Here is Soccernet's And, of course, Aris's preview, and recap of the midweeks games as well. Something from Planetfootball: Saint's went after Fadiga of Auxerre, but failed.
Tottenham: Keller, Taricco, Richards, Doherty, Thatcher, Davies, Redknapp, Acimovic, Etherington, Ferdinand, Sheringham. Subs: Hirschfeld, Bunjevcevic, Perry, Iversen, Blondel. Interesting, Perry on the pine, Doherty starts. No Ziege, Thatcher at left back.
I'm looking around through the site and all im finding is the text tracker...is there a link to the audio somewhere? (kind of neat seeing Capt. America featured so prominently throughout the site)
Indirect link to Saints audio: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/live/audio.shtml Direct: http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?id=1084695&segment=89054
Spurs putting Saints under pressure. Kasey Keller with a great play -- "unbelievable save by Keller in goal" - appeared to be the equalizer.
Etherington with some dangerous play to get in the box - cross is cleared out for a corner. Corner goes out for another corner - Number 5 for Spurs -- cleared out.
Against the run of play - Saints get forward and after a great pass in to the box, Turico puts the ball in his own net -- upper 90.
1-1. Southampton win a corner -- showing a little better now. Keller gives up a corner with a dodgy clearance. Long range shot just goes over the cross bar. Keller was beaten and just went inches over.
Saints with a great move to get in the box - but Keller gets to the ball first and breaks up the danger.
