    Superliga 2009/10, round 14 (of 33) :

Team of the week according to Danish TV2 Sport :
    http://tv2sport.dk/partner/tipsbladet/player/43147?pop=TRUE

Zaza (AaB) - Randrup (Brøndby *3), Larsen (Silkeborg *4), Björck (Esbjerg), Jessen (FCM *2) - Mehl (Esbjerg), Poulsen (AGF *3), Johansson (AaB *3), Absalonsen (OB) - Utaka (OB *3), Lekic (Silkeborg *2).
    ---

Yet another round that showed how evenly matched the teams have become in the Superliga. FC København were more than lucky to get away with 1 point in Esbjerg, in an fairly high paced and entertaining match where Esbjerg looked sharper than the visitors and also were robbed by the referee, when a goal by Jeppe Mehl was wrongfully ruled offside. OB Odense are still in the lead despite only being able to hold AaB Alborg to a draw at home in a very good and entertaining match with some excellent goalkeeping by both Karim Zaza and Roy Carroll keeping the score down.

After the match in Aarhus, FCM told their Polish goalkeeper Arek Onyszko that he is finished at the club and is free to leave. Earlier this year Onyszko was fired by OB Odense after he recieved a 3-month prison sentence for assaulting his wife and saying that this is quite normal in Poland. He was then picked up by FCM. But now he has published a highly controversial autobiography 'F**king Polak' (F**king Polack), that includes embarrassing details of his time at OB Odense, some about the assault on his wife (that he does not seem to regret) and passages where he praise Hells Angels and write about his hatred for gays... a small passage :

"I hate gays. I really do. I think it’s so F**king gross to hear them talking together, as if they were girls. I cannot be in the same room with someone who is gay. See them kissing each other. It is nauseating. I have never met any gays on a soccer team. It is not possible." He write in his book. At first FC Midtjylland refused to comment on the book. But the club has now officially axed the goalkeeper, because they do not share the same values, or think that he can be a role model for their younger players and their fans.

It's looking more and more like HB Køge and Randers are going to be helplessly stuck in the relegation spots at the bottom of the league. Randers were horrible poor when they easily lost at home to Silkeborg, while SønderjyskE v HB Køge probably was one of the poorest games all season and the 0-0 result neither the home team or the visitors could be happy about. As you can see (click here to watch) then Daniel Aggers younger cousin Nicolaj Agger broke his ankle in the match between SønderjyskE and HB Køge so he will be out for several month. So it was not a very good round for SønderjyskE.

The Bet24 bookmakers are btw now so confident that Randers are going to suffer relegation, that they are paying up all bets on Randers to get relegated, despite the fact that we have only played 14 of 33 rounds so far this season... Bet24 also did the same earlier this season, when they predicted that Randers coach John Jensen was the next Superliga head coach to get fired. So they paid up, long before the Randers management eventually made up their mind...

    Superliga 2009/10, round 15 (of 33) :

No less than 3 owngoals in this round 15 of the Superliga... and one of them resulting in all 3 points to OB Odense, while their main rivals for the Championship, FC København, suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat in Aalborg, due to a goal by the quick American striker Marcus Tracy, who played his very first match from start this season and did quite well for the home team. As it also has been the case in their other games this season, Aalborg hardly ever score more than 1 goal if any at all, but since FCK seem to have the same problem at the moment, it was enough to secure a win. It should be said that the FCK forwards have been badly struck by injuries this season and in this match it was César Sántin who got injured and had to be replaced just before half-time. and since Dame N'Doye suffered an injury after the Europa League match against PSV, while Ailton Almeida is not really in top shape either, they do not have all that many options and ther is not much the FCK coach can do. The fact of the matter is that FCK have only managed to score 2 goals in their last six matches in all competitions.. and if they keep this up for much longer, they are surely not going to win the Championship this season.

Esbjerg keep surprising this season and was able to crush Brøndby 4-2 away from home, even though their otherwise young talented left back Kevin Conboy made an unfortunate owngoal. It was of course a highly entertaining match, with Brøndby desperately trying to attack, while Esbjerg mainly could rely on set peices and some quick counterattacking.

At the bottom-half of the league, FC Nordsjælland took a big step away from the relegation line, when they beat SønderjyskE 1-0 away from home. It was quite a tactical, eventless and boring match until young Andreas Laudrup (who is the son of Michael Laudrup), replaced Bajram Fetai in the 64th minute, because only minutes later Sibusiso Zuma scored his first league goal for FCN, very well assisted by Andreas Laudrup, who made some very smart moves and an excellent pass to Zuma. Of course this goal forced the home team to risk more in attack, which also resulted in some very good attempts and an entertaining last 20 minutes. Good game by Michael Parkhurst who played all 90 minutes as right back for FCN and not in central defense as he usually do.

FC Midtjylland were probably a bit nervous about the match against Randers, since it was their first Superliga match after they had axed their highly rated goalkeeper Arek Onyszko and they had also been struck by misfortune when the all-time top scorer in the Superliga Frank Kristensen, fractured his leg in last weeks match against AGF, so that he is out for the next 8 weeks. The match against Randers also started very badly for the home team when the visitors took the lead. But FCM were able strike back in the 2nd half by an excellent free kick goal by FCM captain Mikkel Thygesen... and from that point it only seemed to be a matter of time before the home team would secure a win, which they did only 7 minutes later.... As for Randers, then they have not been able to win in the Danish League this season, despite the fact that they managed to beat a strong looking Hamburger SV away from home in the Europa League qualifiers, earlier this year... But in the Superliga they have only managed to pick up 4 points in 15 rounds so far. So you really have to wonder what is wrong with Randers this season. It's surely not because of a poor squad. Their goalkeeper Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard is regarded to be one of the better Danish keepers and has been selected for the Danish NT squad in the past. Though their defense got some weak spots, they on the other hand also got the former danish international Allan K. Jepsen, the two Ghana Internationals Issah Ahmed and David Addy, plus the experienced Armenian International Robert Arzumanyan. In midfield they got experienced and fairly highly rated players like Søren Berg, Mikkel Beckmann and Esben Hansen, who have all been capped for Denmark at "A" NT level, Tobias Grahn who has been capped for Sweden and did great playing for OB Odense in the Europa Cups, besides having experience from playing top-flight level in Spain and Germany. Kasper Lorentzen who has played well for the Danish U21 NT in the past and won a danish Championship playing for Brøndby... and so forth.. They also have the two fairly highly rated strikers José Júnior and Danish international Marc Nygaard. So it's highly difficult to understand how this season could turn out so horrible bad for a highly experienced team like Randers...a club that was talking about top-5 in the Danish league at the start of this season. Infact, on paper, Esbjerg hardly got a better squad than Randers and they are fighting for league medals.

Ther is talk about making a change to the Danish league. The feeling is that ther are more teams in the Danish 1. Division that are good enough for the Superliga, but are getting in financial trouble, because the Superliga clubs get more and more $$ through better TV deals, while the 1. Dvision suffer financially, especially now when ther is a financial crisis, because they are mainly getting their $$ through sponsorships. At the same time the bigger and bigger TV deals in the Superliga have made the smaller 1. Division clubs use even more $$ in hope of promotion and to keep up with the relegated Superliga teams.

Ther was talk of changing the Superliga from a 12 team league to a 14 or 16 team league, but it was scrapped, because 16 teams would neither be good for the quality of the Superliga or the 1. Dvision, while 14 teams probably would be suitable for the quality, but ther would either be too few matches in a 26 round league, or too many if the clubs were to play each other 3 times like they do now..

It seems that the final solution to a change, is going to be a 12 team league, where the clubs play each other home and away in the first half of the season = 22 rounds... The top 8 teams then keep on playing for the championship and Europa Cup spots (14 more rounds), while ther is going to be a relegation/promotion league of the bottom 4 Superliga clubs and the top 4 teams from 1. Division.

In this way the top 8 Superliga clubs get to play more games against better opponents, since they only have to face the bottom 4 Superliga clubs twice a season, while the top 4 clubs from 1. Division get some more media attention and a bigger part of the TV deal, besides some games against better opponents . The bottom 4 Superliga clubs on the other hand get a chance to escape relegation..

The top 8 Superliga clubs keep their points from the first half of the season and just battle on in a smaller league for the second half of the season, playing both home and away.

Downside : The top 8 clubs have to face each other 4 times a season, instead of 3 as it is now, which you could say is a kind of "inflation" of the value/importance of a top clash.

The downside of the pro/rel League is, that the points they have earned in the league in the first half of the season is scrapped and that non of the top 4 teams from 1. Dvision can be sure of promotion. The best team from 1. Division and the 9th placed team from the Superliga are to enter the pro/rel league with 8 points each, the 2nd best from 1. Div. and 10th from the Superliga enter with 6 points, the 3rd best from 1. Div. and 11th from the Superliga enter with 2 points and the two last enter with 0 points... So it's not quite going to be a fair fight, since the 1. Division clubs need to adjust to Superliga pace and since they cant be sure of promotion, ther is also the question about how much $$ they are going to use on reinforcements for this kind of promotion battle.

    Superliga 2009/10, round 16 (of 33) :

Team of the week according to Danish TV2 Sport :
    http://tv2sport.dk/node/44526

Ousted (SønderjyskE) - Pospech (FCK *5), Håland (OB *2), Albrechtsen (FCM *2), Sidorenkov (SønderjyskE) - Krohn-Dehli (Brøndby), Djemba-Djemba (OB *3), Thygesen (FCM), Absalonsen (OB *2) - Ailton (FCK *2), Utaka (OB *4).
    ---

We are getting close to the winter break and OB Odense more and more seem like they are going to lead the table at the end of this year. FCK are in financial trouble and have not been all too convincing so far this season. Esbjerg is finally starting to crack, while Odense in this round took home a decisive away win in Brøndby, more or less putting and end to Brøndbys hope of a Championship this season. It was a very high paced and intense fight in Brøndby. The first 45 minutes were clearly dominated by the visitors from Odense and a well playing man-of-the-mach Johan Absalonsen, who made the same kind of strong performance as in the NT friendly against the USA last week. Not only did he make the assist when OB odense too the lead, but he also scored the decisive last goal in the last minute of injury-time. OB Odense will clearly not be happy to part with him if he chose to move abroad. As written, Odense dominated most of the first 45 minutes, while it was all Brøndby in the 2nd half. Three times the Odense woodwork prevented the home team from scoring more than one goal in this match, So it was a very entertaining match and Brøndby did put up a good fight against the league favorites.

Esbjerg was soundly beaten away by an FC Midtjylland team that just seem to get better and better after a horrible start to this season. On paper FCM is also too good a team to be struggling at the bottom of the league, while Esbjerg really have done much better than expected. So this loss should not really come as a surprise, since it was only a matter of time before Esbjerg would start to crack.

Two quick goals at the start of the 1st and 2nd half was enough for FCK to secure the win against a Randers team that was no real threat and had little to offer before the 2nd FCK goal. Infact, Zdenek Pospech could have doubled the lead just before half-time, when his "attempt" struck the Randers woodwork, but when the home team then hit the breaks, Randers looked quite on pair with FCK the last 30 minutes or so. Silkeborg has done well this season and would seem to be the favorite to win this rounds match against SønderjyskE, but the visitors are a difficult team to handle. They are a solid team and work very hard all over the pitch. It was also a deserved win for the visitors in this match and the free kick goal by Estonian international Andrei Sidorenkov was just excellent.

    Superliga 2009/10, round 17 (of 33) :

Team of the week according to Danish TV2 Sport :
    http://tv2sport.dk/partner/tipsbladet/player/45002

Rasmussen (AGF *2) - Krabbe (AGF), Ottesen (SønderjyskE *3), T. Sørensen (HB Køge), Jakobsen (AaB *2) - Nymann (Esbjerg *2), Hutchinson (FCK *4), Lucena (AGF *3), Absalonsen (OB *3) - Janssen (Esbjerg *2), Graulund (AGF *2).
    ---

To be honest, this round of the Superliga was of rather poor quality, except for the match in Aarhus and then FCK also showing a decent level, but then the pitch at NRGi Park in Aarhus is also the best in Denmark, while it doesnt always look too good in the rest of the country this time of year and most of the players also seem to be ready for a long winter break. So it's not much of a surprise that AGF got 4 players in TV2 Sports 'team of the week' as you can see above. because AGF were the best team of this round.... With 33 rounds to play, 17 rounds is as close as you get to half a season and Randers FC have now earned the unfortunate honor of being the poorest team in mid season, in the history of the Superliga. Atleast when you look at the few points they have managed to collect. So statistically they are doomed, but On paper they do have a team and squad that almost seem as good as last season and should be more than good enough to escape relegation, so it will be interesting to se if they will be able to perform a miracle. They do have the players and also a very long winter break to recuperate and make some needed changes. However, SønderjyskE will put up a good fight to stay clear of relegation and while most of the Superliga clubs have sufferd financially the past season, due to the financial crisis, then SønderjyskE have just managed to sign new sponsorships that will secure their financial situation the next 3 seasons to come and also add a bit to their transfer budget so that they are able to act more proactive on the transfer market this winter and next summer.

As for the Yanks in the Superliga, then Michael Parkhurst has been a bit in and out this season, but is now once again a regular starter for FCN, though not always in central defense. It seems more and more likely that both Jeremiah White and Danny Califf are moving back to the US this winter. White is most surely going to play for Philadelphia Union in MLS.

It's time for a winter break and though OB Odense are at the top of the table and also dominated from start against their main rivals for the championship, it was FCK showing some excellent goalkeeping and then taking the lead by exploiting the little mistakes made by Odense, then to be on top and in control tactically the rest of the match. So a good finish by FCK while the Odense players have seemed a bit more tired and ready for vacation. Also Esbjerg have seemed a bit tired, but they have also more or less been able to use the same 11 players in all but one match on average this season, which of course add great stability, but perhaps also make some of the regulars look more worn out at this point. It has been much more difficult to see who are the regular starters for Brøndby this season and difficult to make head or tail of their actual style of play, which is quite unusual for a top team. Their defending has been quite horrible and losing their last 4 games in a row is just scandalously poor, when you look at their squad and wage budget. Major changes need to be made in the Winter break, and since it doesnt seem like the club management want to axe their head coach, it has to be some of the players who are going to lose their jobs.

Just like Esbjerg, then Silkeborg has done much better than expected. It's a real solid looking team that is able to change tactics to suit what ever opponent they are up against, so you never really exactly know how they are going to play, but they are very clever playing and good at what they do. The big question is if they can keep it up all season, especially if they are struck by injuries in key positions.... I doubt it.. and I also have my doubts about Esbjerg, if they suddenly get struck by injuries. But so far soo good.

An excellent long range shot by SønderjyskE just before the half-time was more or less enough to beat a toothless AaB team that never really managed to look real dangerous after the break..... Nicki Bille Nielsen was man-of-the-match while, young Andreas Laudrup made yet another excellent assist, when FCN beat an injury-plagued and poorly playing FCM team by 3-0. Infact Laudrup has been playing rather well the past few Superliga games and deserve to be mentioned for his performances.

Finally a win for Randers, but it doesnt change the fact that Randers and HB Køge so far have been the two poorest teams in the history of the Superliga, when you look at the very few points they have managed to collect. On paper they are not that bad though and it was a fairly entertaining match. The opening goal was a very nice free kick. HBK then managed to equalize, but then almost straight away followed it up by some sloppy defending that allowed Søren Berg to score the winner. Unfortunately for Randers and HBK, then the Superliga has become better almost from top to bottom, which is why a poor run at the start of the season, now has left them so helplessly lost at the very bottom.

    Hey
Just have a question about Fck.
Is there any forum sites used by fck fans but the one at fck.dk?

And where is it most likely that fck plays the training match against Vålerenga?

    Greetings from Norway

We probably will never know. Clubs in Russia don't like publicity. According to Sovsport around 3 mln euro. He is a substitution for either Don Jin or Sirl. Zenit fans hope he is new Lombaerts. Tell me more about him if you can.

I know Chris Rolfe has joined AAB recently, so I'll be interested to see what kind of playing time he'll earn and in what position.

I was hoping we could've re-signed Chris to a new contract here in Chicago, but given his age, the not so positive relationship he most likely had with our old coach (who played him at right mid instead of his natural position as a striker), I understand why he left.

I've never followed Danish soccer all too closely, but I'll defintiely keep a closer eye on AAB now that Rolfe is over there. I guess that will be "my team" in the Superliga.

Here is a video of a recent interview with Chris, Fireman. Thought you might enjoy it if you haven't already seen it.

    Fantastic stuff, thanks.

We'll definitely miss Rolfe. AAB have a great, attack minded player on their club.

Looks like Rolfe did well in the exhibition match. Hopefully he'll show his skill and I'll get a chance to see him on the highlights Ceres provides.

I've only followed the Danish Superliga sporadically in the past, but I plan on keeping up with AaB for the continuation of the 2009/2010 season.

Looks like U-20 Costa Rican left back Bryan Oviedo is about to sign a 3 year deal with FC Copenhagen. What are his chances of starting? Does FC Copenhagen have a lot of depth at LB?

Well, he will be up against Swedish international Oscar Wendt who is the regular starter at FCK, but Niclas Jensen has retired this winter, so I wouldnt say that they have much depth.

    WINTER TRANSFER WINDOW 2009/10 (Part 1.) :

The winter transfer window has finally closed and I will start by looking at the 4 clubs at the bottom of the league.

    SønderjyskE:

    IN:
26-yo midfielder, Ólafur Ingi Skúlason, Iceland, 7 caps, 1 goal (3-year contract, Helsingborgs IF, free)
20-yo forward, Chris Sørensen (returned fro loan at Vejle BK)

    OUT:
20-yo forward, Nicolaj Agger, Den U21 NT (loan deal expired, Brøndby)
26-yo Centre back, Anders Egholm (contract expired, Randers FC)
20-yo central midfielder, Sedin Alic (free transfer, Vejle BK, 2½-year contract)
21-yo central midfielder, Jesper Jensen (on loan for the rest of this season to Vejle BK)

Nothing much has happened at SønderjyskE, except for the signing of Ólafur Ingi Skúlason, but it was feared that SønderjyskE would be forced to sell their key defender Sölvi Ottesen, which did not happen, perhaps because they are in no immediate danger of relegation, so a good transfer window for a club that no doubt is happy about their season this far.

    FC Midtjylland:

    IN:
    non

    OUT:
19-yo midfielder/striker, Sekou Oliseh, Nigeria (CSKA Moscow, fee €400k + 10% of later sale)
28-yo left back Christopher Poulsen, Den 2 caps (Silkeborg, fee €270k)
23-yo goalkeeper, Lasse Heinze (Silkeborg, fee €135k)
36-yo goalkeeper, Arek Onyszko, Poland 2 caps (released from his contract, Odra Wodzislaw)
29-yo centre back, Danny Califf, USA 23 caps, 1 goal (released from his contract, Philadelphia Union)
    34-yo midfielder, Claus Madsen (retired)
29-yo striker, Kim Christensen (released from his contract, Akademisk Boldklub)
24-yo right back/midfielder, Filip Marcic, Croatia (released from his contract, Slaven Belupo)
20-yo attacking midfielder, Yakubu Abubakar Akilu, Nigeria (free transfer, Kolding FC, 1-year contract)
32-yo striker, Poul Hübertz (Akademisk Boldklub, 4-month contract, free)

    Youth/reserve team:
    IN:
    non

    OUT:
19-yo right back/forward, Sune Kiilerich (Sampdoria, fee ?)
24-yo defender, Rasmus Würtz (free transfer, TPS Turku, 2-year contract)

It has been a highly disappointing season for FCM and the financial crisis has really struck the club rather badly, so this winter transfer window was to be used to downsizing their squad. A few of their younger talents have been sold to Sampdoria and CSKA Moscow, but otherwise it has been all about making cuts in the wage budget. Like SønderjyskE, FCM seem in no immediate danger of relegation, but seem stranded at bottom-half of the league, with nothing much to play for this season. So they have just cut their losses and not signed any reinforcements.

    Randers FC:

    IN:
22-yo striker, Yura Movsisyan, Armenia (Real Salt Lake, 3-year contract, free)
26-yo Centre back, Anders Egholm (SønderjyskE, 3½-year contract, free)
25-yo left back, Søren Jensen (on loan for the rest of this season from Odd Grenland)
30-yo holding midfielder, Morten Karlsen (FC Nordsjælland, 6-month contract, free)

    OUT:
19-yo left back, David Addy Ghana, 2 caps (FC Porto, fee €800k)
29-yo attacking midfielder, Tobias Grahn, Sweden, 4 caps, 1 goal (free transfer, Mjällby AIF)
32-yo left back, Allan K. Jepsen, Den 2 caps (contract expired, Alemannia Aachen, 6-month contract)
28-yo midfielder, Esben Hansen Den 1 cap (returned from loan to OB Odense)
32-yo striker, José Júnior, Brazil (returned from loan to FC København)
36-yo midfielder, Kenneth Møller Pedersen (contract expired, FC Fredericia, 6-month contract)
27-yo centre back, Bobbie Friberg da Cruz, Brazil/Sweden (on loan to Kongsvinger IL for the rest of this year)

    Youth/reserve team:
    IN:

    OUT:
22-yo right/left winger/forward, Micky Malling Jensen (Blokhus FC, 6-month contract)

Randers had hoped to finsih in top 5 in a season that has been a total disaster for the club. They are heading for relegation and need a miracle to survive in the Superliga, so they have cut some of their more expensive players lose, simply trying to prepare financially for the next season in the Danish 1st division. The players they have signed are good fairly cheap players who they no doubt expect to do well in a quest for a quick return to the Superliga. They are on the other hand not the kind of players who are able to raise the level and help them escape relegation.
    ---

    HB Køge:

    IN:
25-yo forward, Quincy Antipas, Zimbabwe 4 caps (Blokhus FC)
21-yo AM/F, Mark Leth Pedersen (on loan from Brøndby for the rest of this season)

    OUT:
26-yo Right winger/forward, Roberto Saraiva, Brazil (contract expired, returned to Brazil ?)
26-yo midfielder, Anders Simonsen (free transfer, FC Roskilde)
20-yo full back/winger, René Belling (contract expired, Hvidovre IF)

*21-yo winger, Sebastian Andersen, Den U21 NT (to join Esbjerg when his contract expire at the end of this season)

HB Køge have said from the very start of this season, that they did not really expect to survive in the Superliga, simply because they did not have any $$ to reinforce thier team. They have also done little to find the needed reinforcements in this winter transfer window and they are going to lose one of their more talented players to Esbjerg in the summer.

HB Køge have sold their 21-yo U21 NT winger Sebastian Andersen to Esbjerg for an undisclosed fee. As written above, he was going to join Esbjerg in the summer anyway, but the two clubs managed to come to an agreement, so that he now join Esbjerg straight away.

    WINTER TRANSFER WINDOW 2009/10 (Part 2.) :

...and now to the mid-table teams...

    Brøndby:

    IN:
30-yo holding midfielder, Remco van der Schaaf, Netherlands (on a 1½-year loan from Burnley)
23-yo centre back, Jacob Berthelsen (back from loan at Akademisk Boldklub)
20-yo right back, Daniel Wass Den U21 NT (back from loan at Fredrikstad)
20-yo forward, Nicolaj Agger, Den U21 NT (back from loan at SønderjyskE)

47-yo Director of football, Kim Vilfort, Den 77 caps, 14 goals (own ranks)

    OUT:
24-yo Striker, Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen (Celtic FC, fee £1.5 million)
30-yo left back, Joseph Elanga, Cameroon, 17 caps (contract expired, Malmø FF ?)
21-yo forward, David Williams, Australia 1 cap (North Queensland Fury, undisclosed fee)
20-yo defender/defensive midfielder, Pierre Kanstrup (on loan for the rest of the season to Lyngby BK)

35-yo Director of football, Anders Bjerregaard (resigned)

    Youth/reserve team:
    IN:
17-yo centre back/midfielder, Dario Dumic, Den U18 NT (Norwich City, 1½-year contract, undisclosed fee)

    OUT:
    17-yo left-footed defender/centre back, Nicolai Boilesen Den U19 NT (Ajax Amsterdam, 3½-year contract, youth-fee €500k)
20-yo forward, Patrick Mortensen (returned from loan but sold to Lyngby BK, undisclosed fee)
21-yo AM/F, Mark Leth Pedersen (on loan to HB Køge for the rest of this season)

Brøndby have had a disappointing season so far. The defense has been very poor and it has been difficult to make head or tail of their actual style of play. So it was expected that we were going to see some major changes to the squad in this transfer window, especially since they were not going to axe their head coach. But it could seem that the financial crisis has struck Brøndby harder than expected, because despite selling their topscorer to Celtic, the only "major" change Brøndby have made is the signing of the defensive midfielder Remco van der Schaaf, who even join the club on a loan deal.... So a quite a disappointing transfer window for Brøndby, especially when you consider that both Ajax midfielder Rasmus Lindgren and likewise Swedish Fredrik Risp where quoted several times in the Swedish and Danish newspapers, saying that they were highly interested in a move to Brøndby. Infact Fredrik Risp was more or less "begging" for them to sign him, saying that he was only interested in a move to Denmark and especially Brøndby, so ther was more than a good opportunity for Brøndby to reinforce their midfield and defense. But nothing happened... and with the loss of Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen the Brøndby team now just seem weaker.

Brøndby also lost their big defensive talent Nicolai Boilesen to Ajax Amsterdam, so it surely has not been a good transfer window, though they managed to get a replacement by signing Dario Dumic from Norwich City.
    ----

    AGF Aarhus:

    IN:
34-yo midfielder, Martin Jørgensen, Den 93 caps, 12 goals (ACF Fiorentina, 1½-year contract, free)
23-yo right/left winger, Stephan Petersen (FC Nordsjælland, 3½-year contract, free)
24-yo left back Dennis Cagara (FC Nordsjælland, 5-month contract, free transfer)

    OUT:
22-yo left back, Michael Lumb Den 1 cap (FC Zenit, fee between €1.6m - €2.4m)
27-yo right winger, Jeremiah White, USA 1 cap (free transfer, Al-Ettifaq FC)
28-yo left winger/midfielder, Lars Pleidrup (contract expired, FC Vestsjælland, 6-month contract)
26-yo striker, Nando Rafael, Germany (On loan to FC Augsburg for the rest of this season)
20-yo winger, Jesper Blicher (free transfer, Næstved)
21-yo midfielder, Niels Kristensen (retiered due to a serious knee injury)
21-yo attacking midfielder, Kristian Lassen (contract expired, Aarhus Fremad)

AGF was very badly struck by the financial crisis last year, so it was predicted that AGF would suffer some great losses in this transfer window and still have no $$ to reinforce the team. It also looked grim, when first Nando Rafael was sent on loan to Germany, Michael Lumb was sold to FC Zenit and Jakob Poulsen seemed on his way to Italy, but Poulsen turned down the offer and suddenly the AGF director of sport Brian Steen Nielsen, managed to get Martin Jørgensen to return back home from Fiorentina, with some help by sponsors who have agreed to pay his wages this season. So the team now actually seem stronger, though AGF have been downsizing the squad. So perhaps AGF could challenge the top 4 teams and end up with a Bronze medal at the end of this season.

Stephan Petersen is very highly rated and is expected to be an actual upgrade in compare with Jeremiah White who had lost his spot as a regular starter just like Nando Rafael. Dennis Cagara is on the other hand no Michael Lumb, but with the signing of Martin Jørgensen, this AGF team all-in-all seem stronger, especially when you consider how the other teams in the league have also been downsizing their squads this winter. AGF have btw also been able to sell their non-profitable Basketball, Badminton and Floorball teams and is also close to getting rid of their Team Handball club, that has caused some big budget deficits. So financially the future is looking a bit brighter for AGF.
    ----

    AaB Ålborg:

    IN:
26-yo winger/forward, Chris Rolfe, USA, 10 caps (Chicago Fire, 3-year contract, free)

    OUT:
30-yo centre back, Thomas Gaardsøe, Den 2 caps, 1 goal (contract expired, Esbjerg)

Like it is the case with most of the other Superliga clubs, then AaB have also been struck badly by the financial crisis... All their Champion League millions are more or less gone, used to cover some huge deficits. Like AGF, AaB have invested in other sports like Team Handball and Ice Hockey, which really has been bad business, though unlike AGF, AaB have so far done nothing to get rid of their other sports and they also suffer from a huge loan they have made, buying som investment property that they are not able to sell. So it's difficult for AaB to do much about their financial problems. With this in mind, ther was little the Aalborg director of Sport could do this winter, with no real money to spend. Chris Rolfe seem like a good reinforcement and they have not been downsizing their squad, unlike many of the other Superliga clubs. So the team seem a bit stronger. In any case, AaB have a strong looking defense, so they could reach top 4 and the Bronze medals this season, just like AGF.
    ---

    FC Nordsjælland :

    IN:
20-yo striker, Andreas Granskov, Den U21 NT (returned from loan at Akademisk Boldklub)
21-yo central midfielder, Matti Lund Nielsen, Den U21 NT (OB Odense, 2½-year contract, free)

    OUT:
23-yo winger, Stephan Petersen (contract expired, AGF Aarhus)
24-yo left back Dennis Cagara (free transfer, AGF Aarhus)
30-yo holding midfielder, Morten Karlsen (contract expired, Randers FC)
25-yo goalkeeper, Thomas Villadsen (contract expired, ?)
25-yo defender, Simon_Richter (contract expired, Akademisk Boldklub)

Just like the other Superliga clubs, FC Nordsjælland have had little $$ to work with this winter, Stephan Petersen is a big loss, but he did not want to renew his contract, so ther was little the club could do to keep him and no chance to profit from a sale, which could have helped them to sign reinforcements. As usual FCN have been trying to pick up some U21 internationals, which is more or less their trademark. but in this transfer window they have lost more players than they have signed, so it will be highly difficult for them to challenge clubs like AaB, AGF and Brøndby.

How did Bryan Oviedo do in his debut with FC Copenhagen? I know he played 61 minutes but how was his performance for being his 1st match with FC Copenhagen?

FC Copenhagen Coach said that he thought Oviedo played well especially going forward but that he still has a lot to learn defensively and that he needs some extra kilos because he is not physically strong enough yet.
