Oh, I most definitely speak Scotch. Heck, I may just speak a little when I get home from work tonight!
Having taken up ice hole fishing and dog sledding to while away the days over the past several weeks, Max had a fleeting, not quite full-90 moment between blizzards to kick a football around on the frozen tundra of Southern England: http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sp...nes_grabs_hat_trick_as_Magpies_crush_Hayling/ You have to read down the page a bit.
http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/football/4878789.Poppies_please_Bash_over_Max_s_move/ Max has made a permanent move up the league table to Bashley. I do wish they'd stop calling him an ex Galaxy player...he played two friendly matches for the Gs while he was on trial with them (and scored in one).
Where does Max hope to end up following his season with Bashley FC? Will he stay with the club next season?
He is contracted to the end of the season, so it's uncertain yet. He wants to see the club promoted, and may rejoin them for 10/11 season. He likes the area very much, likes the club and would like to stay in the vicinity for the foreseeable future. This is the seventh level of football in England, so he is a long way down the ladder, but he is enjoying his football for the first time in a great while.
"Striker signed from Bournemouth Poppies in January 2010. Quick and lively, he has previously played for Dundee United, Dunfermline Athletic, SV Meppen (Germany), Shelbourne (League of Ireland) and Clevedon City Stars (A-League USA)." http://www.bashleyfc.co.uk/Welcome.htm Hello, Clevedon.
Then don't read the thread if you don't like the level he is playing at. He is happy where he is right now.
When he no longer plays abroad, he dies, history changes causing him to no longer be American, or he retires.
The season is over and Bashley finished in 7th in the leauge. Max made 17 appearances scoring 1 goal.
Max has moved to Poole Town FC. They play in the Wessex Premier League and won the league this season. However, they aren't allowed to actually be promoted because their current ground doesn't meet the requirements to move to a higher league. Poole Town are in the 9th division of English Football. http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/poole/blog/poole-town-fc-201011-preseason/article021363.htm
I imagine the level of competition for a reserve squad of a 9th division football team is quite poor, but on the bright side Max scored a hat trick as part of a 13-0 thumping of Romsey Town.
He is only 22 years old. But has there been a fall like this. at 15, a chance at LA Galaxy, at 17 trials with Rangers and SPL teams while looked at by some EPL teams. At 19, had chances with decent Bundesliga clubs until he was screwed by luck. At 22, playing in the lower leagues of football available in the UK
Yeah. He is definitely not on a promising career trajectory. I hope he turns it around as it would be a shame to lose one of the best names in this forum.
He may have found his level with Poole Town. I read on the Bashley FC forum (level 7) that he wasn't good enough for their level of football. They weren't surprised he left.
Having met the dude while he played (albeit briefly) for the Cleveland City Stars, I'm gonna follow this 'til the bitter end. Here's hoping he lights it up, no matter how far down the pyramid he slips. Although, I'm thinking thay YA.com won't be needing him to write any more blogs any time soon.
Where the hell do you play that you're "ground" isn't good enough for the 8th level of soccer in a country...
