If they all have European grandparents why did Leto get refused a work permit?

Have i said start him every game, NO, getting 10mins here and there is hardly picking him over players with experience. I'm suggesting that we give more chances to our youth team as we have been sub par at it the last few years. What has playing Voronin or Degan done for the club.

Plessis made his prem debut 07-08, has since made 2 substitute prem apperances in the prem since. If he and other youth members are never going to be played because others have more experience than him than we may as well disband the whole sodding acadamy as its a pointless waste on resources.

I get that a lot of you love Rafa and think he's doing a perfect 100% job, but every time I or someone else suggests an area that we as a club can improve in you all get too defensive. I've suggested that we need to improve our youth development, our transfers and our attacking tactics. Each of these suggestions has been shot down as if only a madman would consider such things.

Well thats fine and all as i may be wrong, but if Rafa and the club are doing everything right why are we so poor this season. Why have we won bugger all since the FA cup in 05-06. Why is it that we have only still been in the title race after Christmas ONCE in the last 6 seasons.

Now i'm not suggesting that Rafa is necessarily doing a bad job, far form it, but clearly there are area's he can improve for us

I thought the reports were that his passport and/or family lineage was shady, but I am not sure....

    sooooooooooooooo... Dossena out, Maxi in.
1.5 million euros for Maxi is a fantastic deal.
I just hope we got a decent amount for Dossena...

Edit: rumour has it we're getting 5m euros for Dossena. Not bad, but not good either. Kinda expected more.

Ok I get it. You think one thing, I think another.

Wanta know what I think Rafa could improve? What we do from dead balls. Grow a set and tell Stevie G that he shouldn't take corners. Get someone other than Aurelio to take free kicks when a straight on blast isn't the idea (SG being good on those). Spend a lot of time drilling on defending corners. Consider when it might be a good idea to play 2 strikers with SG in another role.

I am all for these things but I am not big on fixing any problems by playing people who either haven't, or aren't ready to, produce when called upon. I only get to see a live game at Liverpool every other year or so and watch most games from another continent on TV. I never attend a single training session. I don't have anything other than a class C trainers license because I can't play at a higher level and demonstrate skills. So I am reliant on our manager to make those decisions. I just get to kibbitz about them.

Would I be silly and say I'd rather keep the money and play N'Gog more?

My guess is that he'll join the revolving door of Kuyt Benayoun and Maxi on the right when Torres is fit and play at CF when Torres does his hammy while playing for Spain again. This and the Rodriguez signing are bad news for Dirk.

If Wenger was as serious about his as the papers make out I'd take that as a good sign.

Or this could be a case of bring him in on a Bosman and sell him for 15m in 6 months or a year. You heard it hear first

I don't see why we can't do without the depth. Babel and Voronin going means we're short for the forward position. Torres with Ngog and Chamakh as cover is pretty damn good if you ask me.

    It certainly is.

Torres, Chamakh, Ngog, Nemeth and Kuyt. Not too bad at all...especially as Nemeth and Kuyt can play in a withdrawn role as well.

No matter which two you pick, they could all play together in a partnership if Gerrard was unavailable/playing in midfield.

He will cost only wages, I think, and given the way things are happening, we casn then afford to take a hit on Babel in the summer. Better than all the freebies we've been colelcting in the last few years.

i fail to see how an experienced international, who is a quick and strong forward player who can play as a lone target man for us, who would come in for free is a bad thing. I like chamakh, have seen him on a couple occasions this year and last. his quickness, strength and movement off the ball are all necessary attributes when playing a lone striker, and he is pretty decent in the air. and if he really isn't working out, we can sell him for a few million quid in a year.

as noted Chamakh has been coveted by all the big boys for some time now - and to get him on a free would be a massive coup. As with any player - he'd need to adapt to the prem (unlike Voronin, Doss - not free, and Degen) - but the upside is greater than any of the others of recent vintage. Win-win scenario.

    if it happens.

Apparently Babel wants to stay at Anfield. If this is true hopefully he will show he wants to fight for his place and make himself undroppable.

Dossena (Napoli) and Voronin (Dinamo Moscow) are set to complete their tranfers today, according to the official website.

What's gonna change, FFS? Better cushions on the bench? "Babel" and "fight" do not belong in the same sentence. He's had plenty of opportunities to prove himself this season, and he's come up short every time. When we needed goals against Chelski, Spurs, Sunderland, Man Citeh and B'Ham, he did sweet FA. His only goals in the EPL this season were 2 meaningless goals against Hull which I could've scored myself. Sure, he scored a beauty in the Champs League, but I'm hardpressed to find anything postive he's done for this club this season. Babel's stay of execution is long overdue and the sooner he's gone, the sooner we can move on from this failed experient.

Also, I don't buy this "Don't sell if we can't buy right away" bollocks. Have you lot ever heard of investing the cash in T-bills and waiting until the summer with a slightly bigger wad to splash?

We officially shipped off Dossena to Napoli for 4.25m euros, and Voronin is set to leave for Dinamo Moscow for 2m euros.

Expected to get a little more money, but at least they're off the wage list. Hopefully Rafa gets to spend some money now on reinforcement other than Maxi and clinch that top 4 spot.

I would have understood paying someone else to take Voronin off our hands.

Delightful news. Pity about losing money on Dossena, but getting anything for Voronin? Awesome.

I've always been a guy who tried to support every player wearing the shirt and only say positive things...but Voronin is the worst Liverpool player ever. Good riddance.
