Just for fun, who would you love to see as a DP? It doesn't have to be realistic, it could be anyone your heart desires. (Sorry if we've already talked about this, I don't remember it being discussed before...) This is probably a weird one, but I would love to see Miroslav Klose in an RSL kit. I know he's hit a rough patch lately, but he's a great player who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. For those not very familiar with him... (warning: there's crappy music) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_zFumIeK0E"]YouTube- The Best of Miroslav Klose[/ame]
Well, if it doesn't have to be real then I would like to see Wally West or Steve Rogers as a DP. Wally West would make an excellent center midfielder due to his speed. He could attack, and still be able to make it back on defense. Steve Rogers would make a good center back. He has the strength of Olave, but I think he would be a bit faster. In case you're not familiar with Wally's work, here's clips. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSlvRyxiz_g"]YouTube- The Flash running strong[/ame]
Flash? Why set your aim so low? Not when you can have Superman or Silver Surfer. But back to jessyca's (I believe) serious question, you have to look at someone a little more along in their career than Wally West (or is he Barry Allen again?). It should be someone with name power, and I believe, someone who contribute on the forward/striker position. Who, I am not sure. Jared Borgetti?
Barry Allen has returned but Wally is still around as well. Sorry, the comic nerd in me is coming out.
I wouldn't mind seeing Ruud in an RSL kit. Wouldn't mind seeing CR either, but its safe to say that we have a much better chance signing Ruud than CR.
I would like to see Ashley Young or David Villa. No chance with Villa since, among countless other reasons, he is worth way more than we could afford; and Young just got a new contract last year I believe so I don't see that happening either. But if reality isn't important, I would like to see either of these two. Both possess the ball well and are capable of playing multiple styles of play.
I was going to say jesus. But he doesnt score, and we already have a guy who saves.... so whats the use (just in time for christmas) Wayne Rooney aka the white pele would be nice I hate the guy, but drogba makes any team he is on 100 times better Obvious answers also include Ronaldo, Messi, Xavi, Kaka, Adebayor, Pato, Ronaldinho, Anelka, Ruud, Zidane, Raul, Torres, etc. One that I dont think many would jump to right away, but would fit well with us... Ryan Giggs. Winger with a bit of flair and a team player. Not to mention one hell of a left foot. American player: Benny Feilhaber or a healthy Charlie Davies
Totally agree with Jessyca, Klose would rock in Salt Lake. Cannot imagine him ready to come to the U.S yet. But a big target striker is what we really need. Maybe Campos can fill that role.
I like Pienaar (Everton FC), who, btw, scored a goal today vs. Burnley. I would love to see him in an RSL kit. He plays some phenomenal footy and is very fun to watch... I was very sad to see him not play against the All Star team. However i did see him at the party the night before the game.
I hate to say this, but one of the main things for a DP to do is put butts in the seats. A Mexican player, or a high profile international would do exactly that.
Since this is pure fun! How about Fernado Torres?? Could anyone imagine what this type of player could do in the MLS/
I couldn't agree more. I've thought the same thing many a time. Not that I would love a high profile mexican player, but it would definitely put more butts in the seats.
Nery Castillo, he did amazing in Greek League, before got his head full of crap. Could play withdraw or in area. Luca Toni, sizes and more sizes, natural finisher and knows where to be. Vicent Sanchez, great beating defenders and great assist man with speed. Silva, super size and leading scorer in Argentina with Banfield ( the champs ). Mancilla, amazing goal scorer with Toluca and free agent. Mutu, he does live part-time in Miami Beach.
So . . . Dirk Kuyt, then. I really do think he'd make a great fit on a Jason Kreis-coached team. He works hard, and he's a poacher when it comes to goals. Not sure that Liverpool could stand to lose him, though. They're needing all the help they can get.
