That's the problem with seeking to establish yourself at unstable clubs.

If I were Freddy, I'd sign with the NASL. Probably the only place on the planet where he would be guaranteed playing time.

MLS would be the best move. His career has been horrible thus far but MLS could spark it. Don't give a eurosnob answer how he should stick it out in Europe because he needs to repair his confidence and spark his career. I'm not sure if teams would take him as a DP but he MUST take a pay cut for the sake of his career. No world cup, he shouldn't even think about it. He needs to come back to the states and play with less pressure and IF he settles after playing maybe 3 yrs in MLS then make a move, he will then be what 23? Still young, he will not be a world superstar but to say that he's a complete bust and wash out is ignorant. He has the ability to become a FUTURE player on the national team whether starting or not. I like to comment on this forum because the so called "Fans" on foxsoccer an espn do not wish him the best. I think we've all been frustrated with his situation. There is no reason why you shouldn't wish him the best for his career. This is simply a roadblock, it seems like a mountain because of the hype. So I hope he flys under the radar in MLS, and works hard for a 2014 spot.

I'm gonna say Jeff George, I got his rookie card when it first came out and was delighted to see it was $40. Then he sucked. If that's not overrated, I don't know what is.

For the record, not saying Adu sucks or counting him out yet. But the hype around George was unbelievable.

1st of all let me emphatically state that I'm not a Eurosnob. 2ndly I think he should find a slot on a Premiership side if at all possible, given work permit issues, etc. Man I would love to see him at Aston Villa, or maybe even Fulham with Dempsey. That being said Serie-A might not be a bad fir for him either. But that league is not what you would call American Player friendly. I think he would get a better chance of seeing the pitch in U.K. I could see him even in Scotland at Dundee, or Aberdeen? I couldn't see him playing for Rangers, or Celtic.

At this point Freddy Adu couldn't be compared to Jeff George. Jeff George, with all his hype certainly didn't amount to what people expected him to become. Although Jeff George did not end up matching the hype, he did have a respectable career. The Ryan Leaf comparison is more along the lines of Freddy Adu. Ryan Leaf, just like Freddy, had all the tools to become successful and was an absolute stud. Everyone thought Ryan Leaf was going to be a star when you watched him in practice and preseason. Ryan Leaf was an absolute headcase, which was his downfall; maybe Freddy Adu is the same? The good thing in Freddy's case is he will have another chance and hopefully he does not waste it.

I'm getting tired of hearing that Americans WANT to play in Europe when only our top goalkeepers are getting any real respect. Despite a great performance at Confederations Cup, Landon will not get serious playing time, he will be labled a "failure," and hopefully get revenge at the World Cup.

Unless you're a top American goalkeeper, the only way to get any real respect in Europe is to be a mega-star before they move. We have zero mega-stars. Landon is our best player and he's no mega-star.

Adu needs to be in MLS. New York would be a good place. So would Philly.

Euros do NOT want America soccer to be relevant. Well, they want our MONEY from buying jerseys, but they don't want us to succeed at their game. This idea that we can only improve by playing in Europe is nonsense if they don't let them play.
