The top four are of course arguable among themselves, but no other league can be argued in there based on the last ten years. Spanish clubs have the better international record over the last five years, although Italian clubs eclipsed them last year. The latter fact puts Italy in the hot and ready to move up second position. I think the German league in general is stronger throughout than is the English league, i.e. the top clubs sometimes lose to the bottom clubs. Further, the top clubs are as good as the English top clubs. France is next with three or four CL quality teams, but those teams rotate in strength every year. Argentina has to be next with its exported players meeting with more success in Europe recently than those from Brazil's league. The final three have more credible leagues than do their unlisted European counterparts such as Belgium, Holland, and Portugal.

"top clubs sometimes lose to bottom clubs" shows they're better???
what kind of imbecile logic is that??
chelsea lost at home to bolton last week btw.

I think that outperforming them in europe and beating them in head to head games counts for more than "top clubs sometimes losing to bottom clubs"..

If german league is strong overall than how come all 5 of their uefa cup entrants got knocked out in the first 2 rounds eh...oooh so strong .
and us having more teams in the champions league makes them better eh..
    get real...

Ronaldo came to europe with 17! and even a player like he is needed a lot improvement to get to the level he now has. Without his many, many years in europe he wouldn´t be the player he is right now.
Edmundo had also massive talent, but he stayed in Brazil, so he never reached his peak level.
And RVN, Vieri and Henry are jut as phenomenal as Ronaldo is and ARE NOT FROM BRAZIL!! CAN YOU IMAGINE!
    A game like Stuttgart-ManU, Bayern-Real in 2001, Juve-Real 2003, ManU-BVB 1997, Milan-Juve, ManU-BAyern 1999 and many, many, many other, you will never see in South America.

So if SA is soooooo superior, why is Zidane not from there??? The trick is not, to be abled to do everything possible with the ball, but to play as SIMPLE as you can and to use those tricks only! if necessary, just like Zidane and not like Denilson. Many players coming from Brazil have the problem that their game is too complicated, so they need a lot of time to adapt to the game here. Another problem they have is the fact that here you have to be fully concentrated over 90 minutes and you have to go much farer ways than in Brazil or Argentina. Many, if not all, players don´t have the physical level to compete on top-level here.

You gave the best example by yourself: Brazils WC-team in 2002. They had many players from their domestic league in their squad, but how much did they play???? HARDLY!! And Brazils game during the last decade wasn´t realy an example for the thesis that technical abilitie is the most important thing. Brazil just became succesful again cause they changed their style into a more defensive, european-like one. And Scolari is the best example for that, cause he didn´t want to see tricks or so, he wanted ORGANISATION!!!! Also their victory in 1994 was mostly based on their players in europe. And who was their captain?? Carlos Dunga of Stuttgart, the most unbrazilian player possible.

    And listing Youth-tournaments??? C´mon....
If that would mean so much, Spain would be europes dominating country and England would mean nothing. Thats kiddy stuff.
So who is more important for Real?
    Raul or Ronaldo?
    Figo or Solari?
    Beckham or Roberto Carlos?
and over them all thrones Zidane.

Raul was the player that gave Real that something they were missing during the early/mid 90´s back.
Roberto Carlos was never as big as he was/is and Figo and Zidane were the players that gave Real their magic. Ronaldo made Real worse! Yes he plays great and that, but against Juve you saw that Real was not the same as the year before.
It wasn´t just Ronaldos fault, it was more the problem that he didn´t realy fit into Real system, mostly based on combination-plays, but now with Beckham he has a player that can play the balls he needs and now he is on another level than before.
So the most brazilians are not the players that LEAD the game. The leaders are almost ALL from europe. There are only very few brazilians with the leaders-mentality and ability. One is Emerson, but guess were he played many years?

And how many brazilian players did Milan, Juve or ManU have? Milan had Dida and he is a GK.....
Or do you want to name Rivaldo?????

So, brazilian soccer is NOT superior! Without the things they learn in europe, they are nothing.

Not one of these clubs that failed in the UEFA-cup is now on a UEFA-cup spot now or stand in the german-cup quarter-final. One is number 17 and another is number 15 in the current BL-season.

They failed in europe cause they were crap OVERALL!! And Hertha lost to the same club, ManCity lost to, so they are not worse than them...

    So did I!!!

    Kaiserslautern:place 15
    Hertha: player 18
Dortmund: 15!!! injured players(like Conceicao, Amoroso, Metzelder, Rosicky...). normaly they belong into CL and they absolutely proved that last year.
Schalke: They were realy weak, here it is true, but they qualyfied through UI-cup
Hamburg: They were 13th when they went out.

I mean: How should a team win in europe if it can´t in it´s domestic league. That was possible in the mid 90´s(Inter and Schalke did that), but not anymore.

And don´t misunderstand me! I don´t think GBL is better that EPL! They are my No.4 in the world, but if you look a the results of games between german and english teams in europe in the last 5years:
In UEFA-CUP: 2match-ups with two wins for the german team, one for the english and one draw, with both times german team going into next round.

In ChampionsLeague group stages: 16games, 4wins for germany, 7draws, 5wins for england, six times the german team went into next round, the english seven.

    In Champions League elemination stage:
3match ups with 3wins for germany, 2 draws and 1 win for the english and all 3! times the german team went into next round.

The only final was one by the english
    (ManU vs. Bayern)

    Just for the books.....

MLS: underrated (more exports than imports, the laws of supply and demand never fail)

Its only a 10 team league where 80% of the Clubs make the playoffs thus making your over all season weak. In recent TFC CC match ups against MFL clubs MLS teams havent faired to good. As far as Exports go i dont think Loaning out your best strikers make your league look good.

MFL: overrated Almost 0 on the import, which is different than MLS considering the money and how established the league is.

Im thinking you mean 0% on the export, in which case its not very accurate. Mexican players dont really leave because they are heavily priced. Not because they are world class just that their marketing value in Mexico can generate their club a lot more money than by selling them to a euro Club. So far we have three Mexies in Europe and one Coach, not bad eh..

However Many foreigners that have played in the MFL have moved on the Europe.. There is quite a few i would say the most notable one is Juventus midfielder Camoranesi who got first division pt in MEX as no Argie Club would take him.. Then there is an abundance of South Americans playing in Uruguay, Argentina and Colombia that are still owned by MFL clubs most of which could easily replace many of the weak foreign talent the MLS brings in..
