The Battery supporters are plannign a bunch of off feild events too (tailgates, pubcrawl, watch parties and maybe even have time for a couple pick up games)

If anyone wants to come down, get in touch. Open invite for all the events

Other than tryouts, this may be the first 2010 "matches" advertised by a non-MLS team. Woo-hoo. At least minor league soccer is percolating on some level.

    Merry Christmas!

I'm really hoping to make it the 13th. Any idea on the matches?

havent seen a schedule yet but if it is like years past the first match will start at 5pm and the second match 7:30pm. We will probably start around with tailgating around 2 or 3. (Jim what are you thinking? we've got to think of something good.) Some of us will probably start around 10 at the Madra Rua Pub for the early morning EPL matches.

I know RSL will take this (again) serious. Coach Kreis has already said he felt that winning the Carolina Challenge Cup was what got the club in the right mindset to win for 2009. So here's to RSL winning it twice! ;)

As a Battery fan, I would like to win a game during the tournament. while we have drawn a few, I think we have only won two! Of course, most the time our guys have only been together a week or so....

First day of the tourney over.

weather ended up being pretty nasty. windy with rain and then later cold (although im sure that boosted scarf sales!)

First match between RSL and DCU ended with DC winning 2-1 Two goals for Moreno for DC and a PK but Findley

Second match between Charleston and Toronto ended 0-0. Over all the Battery looked pretty solid considering they had only been practicing together for about 3 days.

    Decent crowd too about 3300.

    here is some press.

    Charleston optimistic after opening match

    TFC kick off with draw

    RSL suffers Defeat

    DC defeate Salt Lake 2-1
