The one problem with Cowboys is that they do not have real grass. If that is a factor then I would say Reliant.
Especially in Cowboy's stadium where all of those "extra seats" will go Mexico for sure. So where in Houston it would be 11k out of 71k USA, in Dallas it would still be around 11k but out of a larger number.
Although Columbus or Philadelphia might be nice, they're both Northern cities and are cold in late February. And Pretoria in June is in winter and at higher altitude, so if we're gonna play in the cold it should be at higher altitude like Denver or Salt Lake City.
i dont think they are playing in harsh conditions. So you can throw out every state except the southwestern states, cali, and florida. February in the northeast is brutal....moscow brutal on some days. I would imaigne its not much better around the rocky mountians. you have to remember the USSF will probably try to pay some bills(FMF will prob get a % of the walk up too) with this friendly. They gotta eat too. My money is on texas or california (not the cowboys stadium since is wayyyy too narrow)
Maybe in Dallas, but at the Cotton Bowl instead? It is grass, and the seating capacity is over 90k now. That said, Jerry Jones has been looking at big events for his new place, so I wouldn't doubt that he would be willing to throw some money their way to host.
No. There's only one FIFA date in the spring, and that's in March. This game would probably be with the camp cupcake roster, with whatever players we can wrestle from the Euro/Mexico clubs thrown in.
They had Chelsea versus Club America there this past summer in that World Football Challenge. I don't think they sold Cowboys stadium out for that, but got ~60k. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=663313&sec=world&root=world&cc=3888 Obligatory picture of plastic Jerry handing a meaningless trophy to John Terry after the win. They had natural grass there for that game.
The biggest stadium in the smallest population of Mexicans there is. In my ideal situation it would be 60,000 US fans to about 10,000 El Tri. But that's wishful thinking.
LP Field in Nashville. I am all for Philadelphia, Giants Stadium, Foxboro, or LP field. Any place due east where we can get a Euro or two.
Feb 24th in the Rose Bowl. Remember, this is one of Mexico's 6 "home games" El Tri had announced in October would take place in the US in 2010, scheduled by SUM. So Mexico, not US Soccer, was dictating when/where for this one.
Of course, but even if the crowd were 100% green shirts it's still not a true home game for Mexico. I want to see us beat them on Mexican soil...I'm getting tired of playing them here.
