Here's to hoping we smash Valencia like we did in the 2007/08 season.

What a game that was. Raul scored after 2 minutes and before you know it, we were leading 4-0 at halftime. I remember that game well, with Gago and M.Diarra holding things brilliantly in midfield allowing Guti, Robinho, Ruud and Raul to flourish in attack.

On that day, Ruud scored a double, while Raul, Sergio Ramos and Robinho also got on the scoresheet to finish off a 5-1 win. The defence was in top form in that game too. Great game all round.

Lets hope we see another great performance like that.:)

    Not at all.
But I request Achillian don't neg. rep him.He is still not like IamOnFire15 or Arun10 (The ids may be wrong) who always thinks we will loose.
At least Frank believes we can win with Ron and after a good match he sometime believes that we played well but those two always "Ah.. Crap.. No team-game ... Only Individuals ...No possession .. Less control ... Fire coach ... BS team ... No trophy ... Kill Raul ... BLA BLA BLA .... "

BTW the latest edition is Plyka,I don't know which team does he support !!!

    No Cronaldo.

Good chance for us to show that the team is ok without him.

    Or lose.

I'm going to hope it's the former.

Done. What the ******** is that -- can't see a way to defeat them? It's one thing to say "I have a bad feeling they're going to score a lucky goal and our finishing will be bad". Another thing to say 'I can't see a way to win against a team that is below us in the standings'

Neg repping is something like you will loose 2 points from it.
2 weeks ago I went to Inter Milan Forum and posted something like "I wish Inter can beat Barca tomorrow" and then received a neg rep from Moises telling "Fack off glory hunter ......." .It was of RED color and I later realized that I have lost 2 points for that.
Never mind because Horsey gave me those two points back later though :D .

Neg rep Frank for his post ?

Not being pessimistic here, but I second him..It is possible to win, but not probable.

There is some philosophy like, if you always imagine and be prepared for the worst thing to happen, you would end up being pleasantly and positively surprised when anything except death happens..

i.e when i expect myself to be banned from BS for posting shitty comments, a single neg rep like yours, actually makes me feel happy :)

Before getting too delusional, let me warn that I would go on a negetive repping spree on all so called optimistic fans like you, who would be whining on this forum after the match :)

Neg repping is for pansies! Just rip him a new one right in the thread I say ;)

And for the record he said he didn't see any way we could win ala Bernd Schuster. Remember how well that went over? Seriously though, this game will be a big test for us especially without Ronaldo and Kaka but it is winnable. Even without those guys our team is better on paper than we were last season, especially defensively. This is going to be tricky but this game is winnable.

Thats exactly the point I was trying to make in my above post.. After Schuster's (in)famous comments I was expecting us to be trashed and annihilated by Barca and as a result I was happy after the match, even though we lost..On the other hand after the return leg at Bernabeau, I felt like kissing a porcupine till death as I had expected us to win.. OMG, madrid, my beloved club, had made brought out a philosopher in me :D

It is difficult because we do not have the luxury of their defenders concentrating on marking CR9 and kaka (even if they don't score or create) that would pave way for others to wreck havoc..

So let us, or atleast let me and Frank, hope for the best and expect the worst.. :)

Well, whatever it takes to get you through the day I say. Who am I to judge? I hope you and Frank are very happy together though :D

Real is not a favorite in bwin.com bets for the game:
    1 2.45 X 3.55 2 2.55

Can you please give me an insight on what those numbers mean?

It's the odds on the match.

If you place 1 unit on Valencia, you get 2.45 back if they win.
If you place 1 unit on a tie, you get 3.55 back if it happens.
If you place 1 unit on Madrid, you get 2.55 back if we win.

Because the lowest return is on Valencia, it's the most probable result and therefore they are favourites. But it's very close as you can see.

I feel confident going into this match and the team should too after coming off that win in Marseille. Even though we will be without our two best players, we still have a very strong side and should be able to win this game. The only player I'm worried about is Villa. I hope our defense can shut him down.

We score one more goal than they do, we've done it before.

I don't like Villa at all. He is in a list of players that play well, but i never liked (along with others like Klose, for example). F*** David Villa. I hope he doesn't even get to put his shirt on correctly.

Wow, thanks for recapping a game from so far back in time.
I'm sure many posters were not even born when this game took place, so your in depth recapping is most useful.:p
