O.K. The rumor is that USA and Mexico will be having another friendly this February, a week after they play Honduras in LA. So, where should they play?
They game will be in a huge stadium they can sell out. Reliant, new Cowboys, Cotton Bowl, Giants, Rose Bowl. Something like that.
Tijuana's Estadio Caliente: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estadio_Casas_GeoCaliente or Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez in Ciudad Juarez: http://www.fussballtempel.net/concacaf/MEX/Benito_Juarez.html
Given most encounters between the US and Mexico, the US might as well be playing in Mexico, judging by the crowds (apart from Ohio).
Are you sure it's definitely a week after the US v Honduras Jan 24th game? Even if it's that Sunday, that would still be Jan 31st. Ridge Mahoney of Soccer America said it was a Feb. date. Mexico already came out with their 2010 schedule (dates, and which games will be played in Mexico, US, Europe or SA). They have a date in the US on Feb 24th, their only date in Feb (and none in Jan). Since this is a friendly, scheduled by SUM on behalf of Mexico, expect it to be in a Mexican favored locale like Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, or LA. And thus expect 75%+ Mexican fans.
I read a report not too long ago saying they were working on putting this game at the LA Coliseum. I'm too lazy to find it right now. If that doesn't get worked out, I hope it's Philadelphia, but that's a lot of traveling and that might put them out of the running, since these games tend to be further west.
it was somewhere in the La Opinion... anyways i think maybe Philly is not such a bad idea...East of the United States maybe be able to bring like 3 or 4 Euros or 1 or 2
True. USSF's probably looking at this as a great preparation for the WC + money maker. I remember the 2007 friendly also held in February, I believe, was held in the University of Phoenix stadium in Phoenix, Arizona.
JerryWorld (aka the Deathstar) down in Dallas. They'd sell it out instantly. Huge moneymaker, great 50-50 atmosphere.
agreed, Dallas seems the obvious choice. guaranteed sell out, and its a big new stadium. USSF are looking to refill the coffers hence why they picked up Honduras and Mexico. Are either of these dates FIFA dates?? either way i expect both to sell out (or close to it) and prepare the pockets of USSF to dish out the $$ when US go to WC
